Hi I'm Ben

I was born in Syracuse, New York but was raised south of Cleveland, Ohio. I enjoy playing basketball and the piano. Im a Mormon.

About Me

I love playing all kinds of sports, but basketball was my main sport that I played all of high school. After graduating, I went to 3 semesters of college at BYU in Provo, Utah. It was a great experience and I was able to spend a lot of time with my brother and sister that live out there still. Something that I hold close to me is my ability to play the piano. Not many people know that I can play! I use music to express emotions and feelings that I cant quite put into words. I also use it to help me calm down when I am upset. I am a quiet individual and usually am not very vocal in expressing what I am feeling. However, I find blessings in that fact that I am reserved; it helps me think things out by myself and better understand who I really am.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church. My dad was a convert to the church when he was younger and married my mom at college. Our whole family has been raised and brought up through the teachings of the LDS faith. Although I have been a member since I was baptized at age 8, there have been times where my faith as faltered and my testimony was weak. At college this past year, I remember specifically a week where I was so upset with the world. The media was so violent and negative, people were getting killed, and groups were fighting over so many different issues. I remember asking myself, "Is there really a savior that can fix all this? Is there really a man that has died for all this heartache and anger?". I remember reading in my scriptures one night in 3 Nephi 11 in the Book of Mormon when Jesus Christ is resurrected and visits the people of Nephi. When God introduced him as his Beloved Son and EVERYONE stopped to listen; I had a calming feeling run over me. I know I have a savior, and I know that he has died for every single one of the bad feelings and bad decisions that go on in the world. When he comes again, people will recognize him and the world again will be saved. I love this gospel, and I love the Book of Mormon and the true stories that are in it. I know this church is true.

How I live my faith

I have served in my church in many different ways. I have helped teach and lead groups of boys my age as well as serving in our scout troops. Growing up, I would help organize fun activities activities for us youth to do, as well as trying to invite friends and kids our age to church. Once a month, my dad and I would drive to teach families a simple lesson about our church and to ask if they needed any help around the house. Not only was this a great bonding experience for myself and my dad but it also was a great way to get to know in a personal way, the families to visited. I have recently been called to served in the Mexico City West mission for 2 years to teach people about the gospel of Jesus Christ! I am excited for the opportunity to serve!
