Hi I'm Cheryl

I'm a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in California. I have two sisters and two brothers. We were blessed to have kind and loving parents. We didn't have a lot of money, but, we always had what we needed. We went to church every Sunday and we were taught about Jesus and His gospel. We were given a strong sense of right and wrong. I loved going to church and enjoyed the feeling of "belonging" that it gave me. I knew where we would be every Sunday and I knew that the people all around me loved me and cared about me. It was a nice way to grow up. I felt safe and secure. I have been blessed with a good husband who has always worked hard and supported our family. Not an easy task, since we had six children. I feel that I was very blessed to be able to be a "stay at home mother". My family has been my greatest joy. We now have 23 grandchildren who are growing up way too fast! We have had a good life together. Not a perfect life... there have been many problems along the way. Our struggles with depression and bi-polar disorder have been our biggest challenges. But, the lord has blessed us and helped us through each of our "growing" experiences.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that Jesus Christ leads and guides this church! I know that we have a living prophet today. President Monson leads this church through inspiration from our Heavenly Father. He teaches us what we need to do to be happy and to feel God's love. I have truly found joy in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was raised in the church. My parents taught me well and shared their testimonies often. I relied on their faith for awhile. But, now I have my own faith. I have had so many experiences where I have felt the spirit guide me, help me and comfort me. My prayers have been answered over and over again. The spirit has testified to me that this is Christ's restored church! We have apostles, prophets, priesthood ordinances and continued revelation. Plus, much, much more. I have come to know for myself that Heavenly Father loves each one of His children. He has sent us here to earth to learn and grow from our experiences. He wants us to turn to Him for help. He wants us to remember Him and His son who died for us. He loves you and He loves me. I am so grateful for that knowledge. It means everything to me!

How I live my faith

I am trying to be a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. I start each day with a prayer. I thank my Heavenly Father for all of my blessings, which are many. Then, I ask Him for guidance, because I truly need His help everyday. I read the scriptures to learn His word and find answers to my prayers. I want so much to be like Jesus. He is so kind and loving and compassionate. I try each day to live by His teachings, to obey the commandments. I am so grateful for His atonement which makes it possible to repent and start again. I just keep on trying and I hope that I am improving in some way each day. In our church, I have had the opportunity to work with teenagers, little children and other women. I have taught lessons, shared life experiences and born testimony of my Savior many times. I love the programs of the church that give each of us opportunities to share our talents and our testimonies with others. We are all given the chance to learn and grow together.
