Hi I'm Ashley

I grew up in rural Illinois with my parents and two brothers. I'm a college student majoring in English Language, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a giant nerd and a huge geek. If it's related to sci-fi, I'm definitely down. I love to play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends and watch Star Trek and Doctor Who. Reading is one of my favorite things to do and I'm always drawn in to a great fantasy novel or young adult literature. I'm currently in college where I'm studying in the Linguistics Department as an English Language Major. I love words and how they fit together to form languages. If you want to talk about the origin of a word or how it's meaning has changed over time, I'm there. I also love the law and want to become a Forensic Linguist someday. I love to travel with my family all over the world, learning about new cultures and traditions, and trying to learn as many languages as possible. I currently speak American Sign Language fluently and I'm trying to learn more Spanish while serving a Full Time Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and the restored Priesthood. I know that my Savior died on the cross and performed the Atonement so I can repent and live with Him again someday. I am a Mormon because I know the Book of Mormon to be the word of God for our day. I know that reading that book will bring changes to people's lives that they can't even comprehend right now. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me and knows me personally and has the same love for and knowledge of every single person on this Earth. I choose to be a Mormon because I know this Church is the only way I can find the real truth that will help me return to be with my Father in Heaven someday.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith by trying to always have the Light of Christ shining through my eyes. Article of Faith 13 says that "if there is anything virtuous, lovely, praiseworthy, or of good report, we seek after these things" so I try to fill my life with things that fit those descriptions. I try to take every opportunity I can to serve my community like Christ would. My previous calling was to be a member of the Indexing Committee for my ward. I got the chance to live my faith through service each week as I indexed historical records so people can more easily find their ancestors. Right now, I'm living my faith as a Full Time Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Texas Houston South Mission. Everyday I get to wake up and live my faith with Jesus's name written on my name badge. Sharing His Gospel and bringing His children to the light.
