Hi I'm Rhys

I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could. I'm a crafts-person. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a creator, fixer, maker, and helper. I try to approach life with consistent positivity by learning from my difficulties and throwing myself into challenges I confront. Most hobbies there are, I've tried, but ultimately I have settled into jewelry-making. I've attended college for 2 years and absolutely love chemistry and other sciences. Seeing how the world works helps my respect and love for my Heavenly Father grow. I love people and always enjoy making a new friend.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, and so I don't have a "conversion story" per se, but I would not be a member today if my parents were the only thing keeping me in the church. My parents have been great examples of love, service, and dedication, but it has been the Holy Ghost that has testified to me of the truthfulness of the Gospel. Though it is difficult to explain, for me, the confirming feelings of overwhelming peace, determination, and joy that have washed away my problems of anxiety, apathy, and sadness are just as, if not more real than anything I could see hear, or touch. Not only do the teachings of the gospel make me a better person, they bring me closer to my Heavenly Father. That relationship is one of infinite growth, improvement, and love. I promise that not only are the teachings of the Gospel good, they are true. That is why I stay, because I know and have felt that God is there and He is my Heavenly Father. I know that Jesus Christ is His Son and that because of the Atonement, even though no unclean thing can dwell with God, we can be made spiritually pure and clean so that we can return to live with God after we physically die. I know and testify that the ancient system of God speaking His church on earth through prophets and apostles as seen in the Old and New Testaments was restored, and that Joseph Smith was the first prophet in the Restoration of the Gospel on earth. I have read the Book of Mormon many times and can unequivocally say that it is true! The insight and guidance that have successfully helped me through trials are just a tiny portion of what can be gained from that amazing book. I know that it, like the Bible, is the word of God, and that as I follow the commandments in it, I will have confidence in front of men and God in this life, and growth and progression in the world to come. With all that and with knowledge of the fact that I have just gotten a tiny portion of a lifetime of blessings, I stay.

How I live my faith

I am an active member of my local ward (or congregation) and so though I don't have a particular job or responsibility, I take joy in volunteering for any opportunity for service that comes up, whether that is hauling chairs and tables, cleaning the building, or just being a friend for others to lean on, as others so often have been for me. I am on a 2 year mission trip to Russia, and am thrilled to share the Gospel, which has brought me so much joy and peace, with anyone who will hear!
