Hi I'm John Lewis Redd Jr.

I grew up in Logandale, Nevada. I'm a high school graduate and I've been called to the Texas San Antonio Spanish Speaking Mission.

About Me

I was raised in Logandale, Nevada and I'm a graduate of Moapa Valley High School. I played various sports throughout high school, which include baseball, basketball, cross country, and football. I enjoy being outdoors, going camping, hiking, climbing, and snowboarding. I like to run in races like the Ragnar Relay series, Warrior Dash, and Spartan races. I am the oldest of 6 boys.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised since birth in the LDS faith. Both my parents were active so I grew up attending church regularly and other various church related activities with my peers. My true conversion took place the summer after I graduated high school in 2015. I had moved out my parents house and was working. While working I had an accident at work where I accidentally stabbed myself in the eye with my knife. My eye lost ocular pressure and I have had many surgeries since my accident to return things to normal. Despite the best medical treatment possible I am currently blind in that eye. This was quite the traumatic experience for me. I had just recently graduated high school and thought that I had my whole life planned out. I planned to serve a mission and upon returning I planned to join the Army Special Forces. This incident turned my whole life kind of upside down and through out the following months I had to put my trust in God and his plan for me. In the ensuing months as i thought back on the incident I was able to find God's hand everywhere in my life. As I continued to find his hand in my life I truly began to realize how well he actually knew me as an individual and how much he cared for me. With out this incident I could not claim to know my Savior Jesus Christ and God the Father as well as I now do. I truly am grateful for Jesus' sacrifice for me and I am extremely grateful for the experiences and things I learned because of my accident.

How I live my faith

I'm currently serving a full time mission in the Texas San Antonio area.
