Hi I'm Alyssa Terry

I grew up in the church and am now preparing to serve a full-time mission in Birmingham, Alabama.

About Me

I am a 19 years old and graduated from high school last year with my medical assisting certification. I am currently preparing to serve a full-time LDS mission in Birmingham Alabama. I love to dance and was on various dance teams growing up. One of my dreams is to be on the University of Utah's dance team and to get accepted to medical school there. I am the second child of 4 and only have one brother.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in the church and learned about our faith through the testimony of others. As I have gotten older, I began to strive to find out for myself the truthfulness of this gospel and slowly gained a testimony of my own. But it is not simply black and white; you don't either have a testimony or not, you must strive to strengthen your testimony as you go through life being tested. I know that this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ. This is the same church that Christ himself brought to the earth under the direction of our loving Heavenly Father. This gospel was restored to the earth by the prophet Joseph Smith. Our Father in Heaven has a plan for us to return home to Him and to be sealed to our families for time and all eternity. If we are faithful in this life and do all that has been asked of us, we can become like our Heavenly Parents and have eternal life. I know the our Heavenly Father has a perfect and unfailing love for ALL of his children and he wants us to return back to him so that we can have eternal joy and be able to receive all that He has. He love us so much that he sent his only begotten son to the earth to atone for all of our sins, die, and also overcome death to allow all of us to become resurrected. I love this gospel!! It brings me such peace and hope in such a dark and lonely world.

How I live my faith

I attend church each Sunday and strive to become a better disciple of Christ. I have learned from so many great members who have such strong testimonies and love for Jesus Christ. I often see this expression of love shown from small acts of love. I love to start out my day with prayer, scripture study and listening to general conference talks. I can feel our Heavenly Father's love for all of his children as I listen to our prophet and apostles counsel us and give us guidance. As I prepare to serve a mission, I am taught by the spirit and guided to know how I can best serve my Heavenly Father and his children.
