Hi I'm Maddie

Life brings me many challenges, I make mistakes and I'm not perfect. I seek to do His will and always do my best! I am a Mormon.

About Me

I'm nineteen years old, I have taken a semester at MSU and a few online courses with BYU so I can stay close to home and be with my family. I have recently been called to serve as a missionary for the church in the Neuquen Argentina Mission, Spanish speaking. I'm extremely grateful for my call and the opportunity I have to serve. I know it will be a challenge, but I'm looking forward to it and the experiences I'll be able to have. Music has always been a huge part of my life. My mom was a concert pianist and she started teaching me the basics of music when I was six. At age eight I picked up the violin and over the years I've learned to play many other instruments. About five years ago my mom founded a program called The STARS Foundation. STARS is a fine arts school that gives people the opportunity to participate in the fine arts at a reasonable price. Because we live in such a small town, the people here don't have much. STARS gives them the opportunity to be apart of something great. We offer music, dance, art, theatre, languages, and more. The beautiful part about stars is we are non-profit and we as teachers don't get paid for what we do. We serve everyday of our lives to give these people a chance to learn. The program is there to lift people up. To give them a chance at something they may have never been able to do otherwise. I love being able to serve there and help the people in my community. The Spirit of service is felt through the work that we do, it's the best!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know the church is true, it's as simple as that. Everything I am and everything I do is because of what I know and feel. I choose to follow Christ's example because I know I will be blessed. Being a Mormon doesn't mean that life is perfect and that I never have trials, it means I know God is there to help me get through trials. I can make promises with Heavenly Father that will help me progress and become better so I can live with Him someday. I know that when I follow the commandments I'm a happier and better person. The guidelines and tools He has provided help me fight daily challenges so I can become more like Him. Each and every choice I make is because I want to please Him and I know that as long as I do my best He is pleased. Without the gospel I can't even imagine where I'd be in life. The gospel is what motivates me to be who I am. My goal is to return home and in order to do that I have to do what the Lord asks of me. I know the church is true, I can't deny it. We live in a chaotic world where lots of my values aren't very common, but because I know who I am and my purpose I choose to follow Him. I know Jesus christ is my Savior and that he suffered and died for me. He gave us the gift of the Atonment so we can be forgiven of our sins so we might be given another chance to be better. We have the scriptures to study and commandments to follow. I know I can pray to Him at any time wherever I am and He will hear me. He may not always answer right away but He is there and He is aware of me and will always take care of me. I know that through the Spirit we can know the truth of all things and that He is there to help lead us and guide us to what is right. The gospel of Jesus Christ is incredible. It has made me who I am and I wouldn't want it any other way. I love Him and know that He lives! He is my strength and I can always count on Him!

How I live my faith

Because of my musical background I have been called to be the primary pianist in my ward. I get to be with the young children and play the piano as they sing songs. I also play prelude and postlude as they enter and leave to help invite the Spirit into class as they learn more about the Savior. Music is the way to my soul. Music is a strong way I feel the spirit because of the emotion behind it. It's like my own personal way of testifying without words. I'm the kind of person that always wants to do my absolute best or I'm not satisfied with myself. Just like I have a love for music, I have a love for frisbee, dance, and hooping, but you have to work hard to be good at anything, right? Being a member my whole life I know all the basics. I try to pray daily, study my scriptures, keep the commandments, and to be worthy of having the Spirit with me. Living my faith is not always an easy thing, I have high standards and I want people to know that, not because I'm better than them or that I want to be noticed, but because God asked me to and I want to do His will. I feel like sometimes people think that I can't do anything when really I choose not to do certain things that I feel aren't pleasing to God. Everyday I'm faced with choices and I want to make the right choices. Of course I slip up, everyone does, but we get up and have to keep trying. We have to endure this life well, and we will be blessed. All He asks us to do is our best.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Maddie
I do believe that there are living prophets on the earth today and that they are the ones that lead and direct the church through Jesus Christ. They are able to tell us what God would want us to know or hear. Our Savior loves us and wants us to know what He would have us do. He is able to do this through a living prophet. We then are able to act on what we hear and come closer to Christ. Show more Show less
