Hi I'm Leah

I'm a Texan. Mexican-American. A nursing student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 20 years old, the oldest of three, and studying nursing at Brigham University, but I'm taking a break from nursing school as I'm about to serve as a full time missionary in Portugal! I love the outdoors, hiking, traveling, music, and most importantly my family. I enjoy serving others and it is a dream of mine to one day travel the world and do humanitarian work for others. After my mission, I plan to finish up nursing school and work with our Veterans.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, but I'm from a small town in Texas where there are not many Mormons. There were times where being the only Mormon in my school was difficult. But I know that by being a Mormon and staying active in the church has helped me stay on the right path and choose what's right. Being a member of this church has brought me so much happiness and comfort. It has also helped me understand that I do have a purpose in this life and I know I will be able to live with my family for eternity. There is so much more after this life and knowing that brings me comfort and peace. Over the past years I've recognized the love I have for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and the love they have for me and you. That is what helped me decide to serve a mission. I want others to know that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are there for us and they love each of us so much! Growing up in the church has brought me so much happiness and love, it has played a huge role in helping me become who I am.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading from The Book of Mormon everyday. I may not have all the time in the world, so I try to at least read a chapter a day. I attend church every Sunday and I try to be a good example to those around me. I try to follow the counsel and teachings that our leaders give us. They are sometimes seen as restrictive and weird, but I know they are given to us in order to help us spiritually grow, become more Christ-like, and to protect us from worldly temptations. I also try to serve those around me. Jesus Christ spent His whole earthly life serving others and I feel that when I serve others I am also serving Him. In June, I will begin my service as a missionary for my church in Portugal and I am very excited to share the gospel and my testimony of it!
