Hi I'm Tess

I was born and raised in Texas. I am serving in the Utah Ogden Mission. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student at my local community college, but I'm taking a break for a year and a half as I go on a mission. I am so excited to be serving in Utah because I will get to experience so many new things like mountains and snow!! I developed a passion for music as I have studied music in school through band, choir and private lessons. I was fortunate to have a job doing what I love as a piano teacher and professional accompanist. Although I have deep roots in music, I plan to major in Criminal Justice so I can work for the FBI or local Police Department. I love watching documentaries, reading pretty much any fiction novels and doing puzzles because I love solving problems and mysteries. When I was younger I was a part of a ballet company and later I learned to swing and ballroom dance. I am the oldest in my immediate family and also the oldest grandchild so this transition into adulthood has been fun because I am having to forge a new path and hopefully I am setting a good example for my siblings and cousins to follow.

Why I am a Mormon

I was fortunate to have been born into Christ's true church upon the earth. I worked hard to gain a testimony of my own of the truthfulness of the teachings and gospel taught in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Through much pondering, praying and reading the Bible and Book of Mormon I was able to come to my own personal revelation that this is the true church and the only way to receive a fullness of joy in this life and the life to come. I love the peace and hope I can find by living the teachings of modern prophets and by studying the words of God's ancient prophets. Because I have this Gospel in my life, I have a reason for living and getting up everyday because I understand who I am as a daughter of God and who I can become because He is the father of my spirit. I really don't know where I would be without the knowledge I have found in the LDS faith, and I am forever grateful to be a member of Christ's church. It has made me into a better person and I know that if I stay true to what I know, God will continue to bless me and my family.

How I live my faith

I was born into the LDS faith but have received my own testimony of its truth. I love going to church and participating in my different jobs in my congregation. I have been fortunate to have many callings in areas that I already have skills in like being a pianist and chorister, but it has also been fun for me to expand my skills and talents when I have been given callings in places that I am not so experienced. The LDS church has provided many opportunities for me to learn and cultivate my skills. I will be going on a mission soon and I am so excited for this calling I have been given to serve the people in Utah. I have had so many awesome experiences serving people through service projects put together by the church.
