Hi I'm Kellie

I am a mom, a graphic designer, an artist.

About Me

I am mostly a mom of 4 kids. I love to draw and paint. I am a freelance graphic designer. I love nature. I love teaching and playing with my kids. Right now I spend almost all of my time playing with my kids, cooking for them, feeding them, cleaning up after them, making sure they brush their teeth and do their homework, etc. etc! Sometimes, after sweeping the floor for the 3rd time in 15 minutes, I feel like I'm losing my mind, but then I remember that there is nowhere I'd rather be. My husband is a firefighter and a garbage man. We love to snowboard and mountain bike together-about once every year and a half...hopefully that number will go up in years to come.

Why I am a Mormon

At first I was a mormon because I was raised as one, my grandmother took me to church. When I got older I had the option of sticking with it or going another way. I tested the other way, but I was always drawn back to it. It just feels good. It makes me feel good. I love being on Jesus' side. I love the people. I love the camaraderie. I feel safe here. It feels like a family. I suppose you could say that about being a member of any Christian church though. The reason I am a member of this church is because I have been taught about its origins and I know they are true. I know that Jesus Christ himself called Joseph Smith to restore the fullness His church in these latter days, after it had been changed and lost by people who didn't have authority years after He and the His apostles were killed. I know Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ enabled Joseph to translate the writings of ancient prophets engraved on plates of gold into the Book of Mormon. I believe all the things in it, written by brave and faithful prophets from long ago. I love their examples, I love their goodness. I know the Book of Mormon and the Bible go hand in hand. They support each other and both testify of Christ. I wish everyone knew it too. I know that Heavenly Father hasn't forgotten about us in these days. He has given us prophets that speak His words to us today as they did in ancient times. I know that Jesus Christ himself is at the head of this church and counsels us and guides us, the whole world over, whether member of this church or not, whoever will hear Him and his voice of warning and counsel, through the prophets and apostles whom he has called, who live today.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to treat others as Jesus would and see them as he does and act as he would. I constantly fall miserably short, but it is always in the forefront of my mind and intentions. My calling in church at the moment is ward missionary. I am supposed to reach out to friends and neighbors and help them feel loved and remembered and invite them to church or activities. I have always wanted to be a missionary, but am realizing it is very difficult, especially being the shy person that I am. I want very much for everyone to know what the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is all about and to love it as much as I do. I love coming to church on Sundays and being spiritually fed. Coming every week keeps me on the right track. If I start to forget, it reminds me. When my focus wanders to worldly distractions during the week, it helps me regain sight of what is really important. I also live my faith by teaching it to my kids and being an example to them. I love to read scriptures with them and have family lessons about Jesus Christ and His gospel.
