Hi I'm Rafael

I was born in Mexico but I moved to Utah when I was young. I have a great love for the gospel! I am the fist Mormon in my family.

About Me

I was born in Mexico, then moved to Utah. I investigated the church for two years before my parents gave me permission to be baptized! I enjoy reading the scriptures and listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. I have three siblings and they are all quite older than I Am. I am the uncle of four wonderful kids. My professional goals include going to Brigham Young University and major in Business and later become a Dental Surgeon.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has given me the opportunity to know of my Heavenly Father's plan for me. I am not perfect, but I am committed to live the gospel and serve others. Before I became a member of the church, I had little knowledge of the scriptures and no faith for better things to come. I had no hope to ever become anything good. Through the example of dear friends I was able to get a grasp of the joy that the gospel brings. When I was encouraged to learn more about the truth I always felt the spirit the I lacked for so long. After I had made a decision to be baptized I wasn't allowed to do so. I was very young and my family opposed. It was a difficult time for me, because I knew the church was true but couldn't do anything about it. After two years of constant faith and prayer I was permitted to take that step that I will remember forever. I know that my testimony grew stronger and deeper as I maintained the faith and as I read the Book of Mormon. I strive to do all I can to get closer to my Heavenly Father and serve his children. I feel an exceedingly great joy when I study and attend my church meetings. The lord has given us love and the trust to carry out his plan. His prophets which are servants of God are testimony that Heavenly Father lives and cares for us. Jesus Christ' Atonement make it possible for us to live with them again. I know the gospel is true, I know the Book of Mormon is true, I know that God the Father and His beloved son Live. I know that there are prophets again on the earth to direct us with love. I am humbled to have found the gospel and obtain hope and faith that give me Joy and knowledge of truth. I know all these things because they have been testified to me by the power of the Spirit. I share these things with you in all humility in the Sacred name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I am a volunteer for the Big Brothers And Big Sisters program in New Mexico. I am privileged to serve a child with special needs. This experience has given me a different outlook as to how I should treat others. I love being part of this experience. I volunteer in the community by rendering service at the animal shelter, library, and hospital. I know that by living my life like Jesus Christ did when He walked on the earth I can find joy and a purpose in my life. Sometimes I teach lessons from the scriptures to my youth group. When I teach, I can relate to my friends and our relationship grows stronger. Being the only member of the church in my family oftentimes means that I have to go to church alone. I sacrifice a lot of things because I know that God always remembers my efforts and His love for me is so evident and feel it in my heart when I do what He wants me to do.
