Hi I'm Carter

I live in Utah. I like school, mostly math. I'm a pianist, drum major, and I can play every brass instrument. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm about to graduate from high school. I've had a pretty good time there. I've always challenged myself with lots of AP and honors classes, and there were definitely a lot of low-sleep nights, especially this year when I took early morning seminary (living in Utah, it's pretty easy to get a seminary release period during the school day). I also love music. I've been playing the piano for about twelve years now, and the trombone for six. A couple years ago I decided to learn more brass instruments, so I taught myself how to play the euphonium and the tuba, and I recently learned how to play the trumpet, flugelhorn, french horn, and mellophone, so I can now play every brass instrument (though I heavily prefer trombone). I learned how to work hard and be a good leader in marching band. I was a section leader my second year of it, and a drum major my third, when we finally won the state championships. I try to be a fun guy, but I also make sure to prioritize my work and my spiritual development.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I love this church. I have had my faith strengthened and restrengthened over and over again ever since I was a small boy learning the stories of Jesus. I was born to parents that were (and still are) members of the church. I was taught from my childhood the way that my Heavenly Father wants me to act. I didn't quite grasp everything at first. I still remember when I was done with kindergarten, and summer started, with an ending of school. At the time, I hoped that in addition to there being no school during the summer, there would also be no church. Now that I'm not in kindergarten, I've grown to genuinely love the church. Through all my hard times, I know I can rely not only on friends and family, but on my Heavenly Father who loves me perfectly and knows best how to help me. I am a Mormon because I love to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

From my youth until now, I've been raised by parents who prioritize the gospel and going to church. I can't remember ever missing church unless I was sick or something. When I turned twelve, I was old enough to participate in youth activities, and tried to go to those every Wednesday, when they were held. Sometimes schoolwork would be too heavy to go every week, but I always tried to go to those activities. I liked spending time with other teenagers from my church, and I'd always have a fun time and feel the spirit. Also, around the time I was twelve, I was asked to be a pianist for a meeting every week. I love the spirit that comes from hymns.
