Hi I'm Hayley

I grew up in Atlanta, I'm a runner, I'm a college student, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I served int he Philippines Urdaneta Mission from 2016-2017, and am fluent in Tagalog! I love the Filipino people and can cook adobo very well. I ran in high school and was a cross country and track captain. I also know how to play the violin, and I appreciate going to the symphony. I am currently studying at BYU in Provo and want to become an interior designer or architect. I absolutely love hiking and being outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in the Church, so I was exposed to the teachings of the Church when I was little. However, when I was in high school, I was struggling with my identity and who I was. I didn't believe so much what I had grown up hearing in the Church, so I decided I was going to find out for myself if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was true. I visited some other churches and still wasn't receiving an answer. I then decided I was going to read the Book of Mormon alongside the Bible and then pray to God for direction in my life. As I read the Book of Mormon, I gained a deeper testimony of Christ's Atonement and how much He loves us. I discovered more about our Father's Plan of Salvation and that there are ways to overcome trial and hardship. I prayed and I felt in my heart, from the Spirit, that What I grew up hearing and believing were true. This church contains the fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to serve the Lord at every opportunity. We are all children of our Heavenly Father and He has a plan for each of us. I showed my faith by going to another country for 18 months to try and help others come to know our Savior and live the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is one of the hardest things I have ever done, because I had little communication with my family back in the States, and it was a completely different culture. What I learned though is that as I relied on my Savior, He helped me learn the language and adapt faster. I know that as we strive to become like Him, he will draw nearer unto us and will allow us to see miracles inour lives.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Hayley
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the central part of our Heavenly Father's plan. Part of God's plan allows us to exercise agency, and make choices for ourselves. Although we often strive to follow our Savior's perfect example, we sometimes fall short. The Atonement is the means to draw closer to our Heavenly Father again when we make those mistakes. It is the means to heal a wounded soul, calm a troubled heart, strengthen our weaknesses, and feel heavenly joy! Through the atonement of Jesus Christ, we have the ability to overcome our trials, and it is the only way we would be able to return to live with our Father in Heaven! Show more Show less
