Hi I'm Ky Chandler

I am a college student. I run track and field for my school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student who runs for my school's cross country and track & field teams. I work part time at a bookstore that sells all those lovely textbooks you "need" for class that cost so much and are soooo heavy. I am studying to be a sports nutritionist and am an extreme foodie! I love all things Hallmark Channel and crafting - the more glitter the better :) I love going home and spending time with my four brothers and three sisters, and constantly call to talk to my mom (she's my best friend for real!)

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both Mormon, and they raised me in the Mormon faith. As I child growing up, I just went through the motions of what Mormon's do because it was what my parents wanted, and I didn't want to disappoint them or cause conflict. As a teenager though, I started to gain a testimony that the things I was doing were good. As I sat and watched my friend's lives fall apart while mine stayed intact, I started to realize that the Mormon faith was something special. Sure, at times, staying true to my standards was difficult, but it was all worth it! I was happy and found peace in my actions. Today, living my faith is much easier. Because of many miracles in my life, I know without a shadow of a doubt that God is real. He has a Son, Jesus Christ, who He sent down to earth with the purpose of saving my soul, your soul, the soul of that random person walking down the side of the road. God hears my prayers, He hears your prayers. He knows us each by name! It is such a beautiful thing that I love about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I didn't come to know all of this at once, It took hundreds of prayers day after day. It took faith, and sometimes walking into the unknown. But, it was all okay, because that is how we grow closer to Christ. I know that if you simply kneel down and pray to God, He will answer you, and you too, can come to know for yourself that which is good and true.

How I live my faith

At church, I have several assignments, that I just love! Every Sunday, I get to help our Bishop (he's like the pastor in other churches) choose music for our meeting. The second thing I get to do is to help people do their genealogy. Some days it's mostly tech support, but other days, I get to help others find out where they come from, who their roots are, and it is so neat to see the joy on their faces when they realize how unique of an ancestry they have. Another thing I get to do is visit with five awesome woman each month! At first it seemed like just an assignment, but over time, I came to love these women and look up to them for examples of how to be awesome disciples of Christ! Maybe my favorite way I participate at church is our Young Single Adults program. It's basically just a bunch of college students who get together with each other a couple times a week, have fun activities, and strengthen each other through our trying times. I love getting to spend time with people who can relate to me and what I am going through in life at this particular moment. I truly have made some AMAZING friends through being an active participant in my church!

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Ky Chandler
Absolutely not! As Mormons, we believe that all humans are equal. As such, we do our part to help any person regardless of age, race, gender, socioeconomic status, religion, or profession. We don't care if you blue skinned or purple eyed, if you need help, we are taught to go the extra mile and provide any assistance we can. Show more Show less
