Hi I'm Kirk McKeon

I attended college at Brigham Young University, I am going to serve my mission in the Mexico Tijuana Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I played football and volleyball in high school. I injured my clavicle from playing football and had to have reconstructive surgery. My father had cancer, but is now in remission. I have attended one year at Brigham Young University and have worked construction for two summers. I was born in southern California, then moved to Mesa, Arizona when I was 5. I moved to northern California, Granite Bay, when I was 9 and I lived there until I started going to college. I am going to serve my mission in the Tijuana Mexico Mission. I have a mother, father, two sisters and one brother, and both sets of grandparents are still here with us, and many cousins.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon. I have chosen to live after this manner of life because I have seen many different versions of people's lives. I have friends that are members, but may not uphold the teachings and beliefs that we share, and it saddens me because it causes tension in their family, and they tend to be angry with people that do not agree with them. I have other friends, that while they are happy in their lives, may not feel joy in everything that they do, or may feel that they are not a part of something; an outsider. I know that I am loved by those that are in my ward, and even just knowing that an individual is Mormon, already causes there to be a bond without even really knowing the person. I know that this Gospel is true, and I know that if I uphold the commandments and laws that God has given to us, then I will have a happy and long life here upon the earth. It may be hard to comprehend why I would not like to join my friends in going to parties with alcohol or drugs, but it helps me to live the way that I want to, and that is why I am Mormon.

How I live my faith

My situation is interesting, in that I am living with my grandparents before I report to the MTC, making it difficult to receive a calling. I attend my church meetings, and while I am 19 years old, I go to the meeting with the 16-17 aged young men during third hour to learn more with them, and hopefully, be able to give advice about preparing to go on a mission because that is what I have been working on doing these past several months. I go home teaching when I have the opportunity to do so, but I primarily just try to treat every person I come in contact with, with respect and love. I hope to be able to carry that on while I am on my mission so that I can have the Spirit with me and know that I am doing what I should be doing.
