Hi I'm Katie

I'm from Massachusetts. I studied Geology and played lacrosse in college. I love golden retrievers. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to play sports and be active. I love being outdoors. I love dogs, especially my family's. I studied geology in college and love learning more about the Earth, the environment and processes that shape it. My favorite topic in geology is karst topography (google it!). I like to read, watch movies, hang out with friends and eat. My favorite food is ice cream!! I enjoy spending time with friends from my YSA ward. We like to get together to hike, barbecue, have birthday parties, go to movies, celebrate holidays, go to the temple and lots more.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert and was actually a self referral! I went on mormon.org, put in my info and had a lesson. After I met with the missionaries, I learned about the gospel through their lessons and also a friend from college. I met the YSA, started hanging out with them, and after pretty quickly developing a testimony of the truth of the Book of Mormon made the choice to get baptized. I have a firm testimony of the truthfulness of the LDS church. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer, that He lives, and that He is there for me and with me in all the moments - big or small - of my life. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me. I know that we are all children of God and that the Lord loves all of us as His children. I know that this gospel brings a joy to my life that can't be found elsewhere. I know that Heavenly Father has guidelines for how we can live our healthiest, best lives and that when we follow them we become closer to Him. I know that the church is true and it is the best feeling to know that and share it with people!

How I live my faith

My calling is ward missionary right now. I help share about my faith and my church with others, but that is only part of what we do. Our focus right now is to learn to live more Christ-like lives and wake up each day thinking about what we can do to help others. I used to be on the Activities and Outreach committee, where I helped decorate for fun events like our Night in Bethlehem celebration before Christmas. I am also a visiting teacher in the women's organization in the church. I have three girls that I teach with my companion, another girl who goes to my congregation, and we text, email or ideally visit with each of the girls we teach each month. Soon I will be serving a full time mission and I can't wait!

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

When we pray, we can talk to God, and when we read the scriptures it is one way He can talk to us! Reading them can help us find answers to questions we are wondering about. It also also just plain fun. The scriptures are full of interesting stories, admirable people and life lessons. They are a great source of wisdom and faith. Daily scripture study is a great way to develop a deeper faith and make good choices. Show more Show less
