Hi I'm Elder Brenden James Turner

I'm 19 years old and straight out of Connell, Washington. I'm serving in the New Mexico Albuquerque Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a Connell High School Class of 2016 graduate. I'm currently serving in the New Mexico Albuquerque mission and loving every minute of it. Basketball and football have always been my favorite sports and I've played since I was a little kid. I love to spend time with friends and family whenever possible. I enjoy reading and spending time in the outdoors. If there's a sweet spot to hike, you know I'll be there. I love the gospel and know that Heavenly Father loves all of His children.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose everyday to be a Mormon because I know that the greatest rewards in life, and the life to follow, only come in and through following the example of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Nothing in this world provides the same peace and love that comes from keeping God's commandments. It is as simple as that. I know that my Father in Heaven loves me and wants me to return to Him. I know that this is the only way to do that. My father was baptized when I was nursery age and my mother being a member her whole life allowed to be blessed and grow up in a home where the Gospel was taught. I was baptized when I was 8, and have continued to grow in my faith and testimony. My conversion has come through repeatedly choosing the right. I'm not perfect, and have not always made choices in my youth that provided happiness. But as I have grown in maturity, stature, and faith, I have come to know my Savior and the power of the Atonement. I have utilized a gift so precious as the one he gave us and allowed to work a mighty change in my heart. I have felt the Holy Ghost testify to me the truth of the Book of Mormon. I know those words were written for us in these latter-days. I know Joseph Smith to be called a prophet of God and that he did in fact see God the Father and His Son. I know that he was given the keys to restore this Gospel to the earth in its fullness, and I am able to partake of it everyday. This knowledge has been an anchor for me and provided me so much happiness in my life. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to serve whenever given the opportunity, whether it is in school, in my community, my ward, or my family. I have found that service is the best way to show love and show who you truly are as a person. Just as our Savior strived to serve, I too have that same desire. I've had many callings throughout my youth. I have served as the Youth Family History Consultant within my ward. It's helped me to truly see the importance of family history and doing temple work for the dead. The work of salvation is taking place everyday, on this side and on the other side of the veil. It's His work that we are called to assist in and that I strive to diligently do His will.
