Hi I'm Marsha

I grew up in a small town. I was a school counselor, educator. I am married and we have three grown children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of three children and grandmother of three. My husband and I have been married for 43 years! I enjoy gardening and landscaping, playing tennis, watching sports, hiking, and traveling. I like to volunteer and have been a Garden Guide and building host on Temple Square and assisted people to find employment. I was an educator and school counselor for 23 years. I have my bachelor degree in social work and my master degree in education.

Why I am a Mormon

I chose to become baptized as a young child. My family wasn't very involved with the Church but my older sister and I attended until we became teenagers. I didn't attend church for over fifteen years then began to go back to church when my oldest child was 3. I wanted her to learn about Jesus, be a person who served others and was kind and inclusive with other people. I wanted her to be part of a community and church who knew why they were here on Earth, how to live and treat other people, and that Heavenly Father and Jesus answer our prayers, know and love us. My husband joined us with our second child and our family were regular church attenders when our third child was born. I know I feel love, hope, guidance and support from my Heavenly Father, Jesus and the Holy Ghost. I know that I can pray to them in gratitude and when I am in need. I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God who prayed to God asking in sincerity for help finding the true church. He believed and followed God eventually establishing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I know that our prophet today, President Thomas S. Monson provides us with guidance from revelation he receives from God and that by listening and following his counsel will help me become an improved person. I know the Gospel brings me peace, joy and contentment as I live my life striving to become a better person by serving others as Jesus did.

How I live my faith

I look for ways to serve people starting with those in my neighborhood, then my community and church. I enjoy preparing a meal for someone, taking a loaf of bread to a neighbor, or assisting an elderly neighbor with yard work or whatever they need. I have taught young children (age 1 1/2 to 3) and children to their teenage years. I taught boys in the Scouting program and teenage girls in church classes and organized social activities for them. When I served as a church leader in a nursing home, I taught lessons about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, ministered to the residents needs, organized social events and went with them to temple open houses and attended Mormon Temple sessions with them. Another member of our congregation and I visit with three women in our church every month, attending to their needs and teaching them a message about the Gospel.
