Hi I'm Garett

I grew up in Pennsylvania. I am going to school at Penn State University. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently going to college. I haven't quite figured out what I'm studying yet but I'm still searching for the right area. I really love math and science and has always been a strength of mine. I am working through college at Chick-fil-A and have had other restaurants jobs since I was 15. I have always been a cook and enjoy it. I live in a very rural area that is in the middle of no where. Which is good for me because I love the outdoors. There is many wooded areas around me where I am able to go hiking. I was not raised with very much of any religious background due to both of my parents not being very religious. I met the missionaries as I was walking out of the library on campus. They shared with me that I had a Father in Heaven and how I could find out for myself. That moment and others to follow have been a huge blessing on my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the peace and joy that it brings into my life which can only be brought by the savior. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to my Father in Heaven to see if it was true. The joy I felt in that moment completely affirmed to me that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I was not religious growing up and so I was no particularly religious my first year of college. A pair of Sister Missionaries approached me as I was walking out of the Library one afternoon. They shared with me that there was a God and that I could fine out for myself that he is there what his plan for me is. I was always used to people telling me that there is a God and that I should just believe. That is why when the Missionaries told me that I could find out for myself that there is a God it struck me. As I prayed, read the Book of Mormon, and went to Church, I found my testimony growing larger and larger. At first it started with that there was a God and he loved me. It furthered when I started to believe the Jesus Christ really was our savior and finally that the Book of Mormon is a true work of God. I found out all these things through the Holy Spirit testifying of truth by the small feelings he gives us of joy and knowledge. I still know that these things are true. I have had even more witnesses of their truthfulness as I have done my best to be faithful to the Lord's commandments. That it why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith the best I can through service. I organize the bread and water for the sacrament every Sunday morning. The sacrament is time where we renew our baptismal promises with our Heavenly Father by remembering the Savior. It is a privilege to be able to participate in that sacred ordinance. I also participate in hometeaching which is where members of the church visit other members of the church to make sure they are doing alright and have everything they need. The people I visit have become some of my best friends. I have learned so much from them on what it means to serve and love on another by them showing me so much love. I also often help the missionaries in the area teach. I am able to see how Christ brings so much hope into people's lives just like it did to mine. I have truly been blessed through doing these things and know that they have given me a closer relationship to my Heavenly Father and my brothers and sisters on this earth.
