Hi I'm Joanna

I'm an amateur novelist. I love Netflix and running. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a novelist and a poet. I didn't start out that way; I originally went to college to become a mechanical engineer, but found that I'm better at working with words and emotions than springs and distributed weight equations. So far I've had thirty poems published online, and I've started writing a book that I hope to finish soon.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church. I lived the stereotypical young Mormon life: go to Primary, learn the songs, learn to be good. But no one is perfect, and as I got older I made mistakes. However, those mistakes, through the gospel, were healed. I became a better person through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I regained hope in the future through it. Heavenly Father gave us the Atonement as a gift. His plan is a plan of hope, of happiness, of rebirth. A Son was sent to die for us, to understand our pain, our suffering, and our trials. He rose to give us life, and He lives to give us aid and protection. He is my hope. He is the reason I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

It's really hard for me to pick out something concrete that shows how I live my faith; growing up in the Church, my faith has become second nature. I often find myself taking a few seconds to offer a quick prayer, even if it's something small. I serve whenever I find the opportunity to. One thing that I really enjoy is going out with the missionaries; I love to help them teach people the joy of the gospel.

What are Mormon temples used for?

Mormon temples are a sacred place to worship at the feet of the Lord. It is also a place where we can receive special blessings promised to us in the scriptures. Here, we can be sealed together as families for time and all eternity. Additionally, sacred ordinances such as baptism can be completed for those who passed on without getting the opportunity to participate in these ordinances while they were on the Earth.
