Hi I'm Parker Sherwood

I grew up in a small town in Arkansas. I am an Eagle Scout and a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated high school one year early in order to complete a year of college before I left for my mission. My family has a small herd of beef cattle and harvests hay every summer. I spent a lot of time working with my dad on farm things and building his businesses. I enjoy hiking and the outdoors. I love to build things and enjoy learning and doing new things. I have a coin collection comprising 50 countries! I love to listen to music and enjoy church dances. I enjoy spending time with family and friends and like to be goofy. I enjoy taking pictures, especially silly ones. I have been called as a missionary to serve in the South Salt Lake City area in Utah and I have LOVED my missionary service!

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in this church. I continue to follow it's teachings of the restored gospel because they are true. I know that they are because I have lived them and know that my life is better because of it. I know that this church is true. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that he helped restore this gospel under the direction of Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus Christ came to the Earth to be an example for us and to atone for us so that we may be cleansed and found worthy to live with our Heavenly Father again. I know that we lived with Him before we came to Earth and that we are His spirit children. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are distinct beings that have bodies of flesh and bone. They, along with the Holy Ghost, comprise the Godhead. They are unified in purpose and act in order to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of mankind. I know that we have a prophet and apostles today that receive revelation for our day. They are men of God and speak under His direction. They are as important to us as Moses was in his day. This gospel is true and if you will follow its teachings and pray about it sincerely, you can know for yourself.

How I live my faith

I have had some callings in my ward. I have served in each of my young men's groups, on the stake youth committee, and as a family history consultant. I have been a teaching with the missionaries in my ward a lot and sometimes substitute for Sunday school teachers in my ward. I'm not the most consistent home teacher, but I do think it is a great opportunity to reach out to the people in your area. I attend early morning seminary each day and love to learn. I strive to live the standards that have been outlined in For the Strength of Youth and know that they offer protection. Since I have been on my mission, I have learned how to truly live my faith. I pray to Heavenly Father every day, several times. I study the scriptures each day, especially the Book of Mormon. I share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone I meet. I keep missionary standards. I try to help others who have touched me throughout my life by sharing faith and miracles with them each and every week.
