Hi I'm Samuel Petersen

I grew up in California, US. I love music with a passion, and I'm a Missionary in Honduras.

About Me

While being a college student in the Civil Engineering Program at BYU, I have decided to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and will be serving in the San Pedro Sula East mission in Honduras. I love to play the piano and organ, as well as swimming and hanging out with friends. I have attended the BYU hosted Young Musicians Summer Festival twice before college and now hope to continue on to a higher music education along with my Civil Engineering.

Why I am a Mormon

I have seen many people fall away from the church. Although I have been a member my entire life, I have seen the unhappiness that others have when they are no longer attending church. I myself have experienced joy because of the teachings of this faith and I greatly wish to share this with others. Once you have felt this joy also you will feel the same way I do. It must be shared. Sharing this feeling of joy and gladness for the world is something that everyone must have in these times because often, these times are shrouded in sadness and darkness. Our message has the power to lift the darkness from your life, in a way that none other can. We can not only cover the problem, we can eradicate it completely from your life, but only if you are willing to accept it. In order for us to teach you, you must be willing to learn, without bias or predisposed hatred, about the things we wish to teach you. I am a Mormon because I want to share the love and joy I have felt with others, to share with them the feelings I have felt for our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and to share with them the message that accompanies the redeeming atonement. They can be whole again, they can be clean again, in a way that just isn't possible in any other way. That is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Some of the callings that I have had include being assistant ward organist and being a home teacher. I love to be a home teacher because it allows me to better know the members of my ward, as well as allowing to connect with them. They call me and my companion from time to time, asking for some kind of service, and it makes me glad that they are willing to ask for help from us. Of course we are willing to help because it is our calling, but more then that, it is because they have become our friends, and we are willing to go out of our way to help them.
