Hi I'm Scott Spalding

I love trail running, hiking, camping, astro-photography, and astrophysics. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I love anything to do with the mountains. I love to trail run and hike and camp. Spending time in nature helps me feel the love that God has for me. I also love the study of physics and astronomy and plan on studying Astrophysics in college. Whenever I observe the stars and planets in space I am overcome with a knowledge that there is a supreme creator and that he loves me. In The Book of Mormon the prophet Alma teaches that "all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator."

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My parents raised me in the Church and taught me about the church. Although at the beginning of my high school career I began to doubt the things that were being taught. I thought that I didn't need the gospel, that I could do everything and accomplish everything by myself. I was swallowed up in my pride. I very soon quickly fell into some very serious bad habits. After years of trying by myself I was listening to a piano version of a hymn "Nearer my God to me" and the Holy Spirit filled my soul with hope and from there I knew what I needed to do. So decided I would try the church and turn my life to Christ. The moment I did that I found immediate relief and was able to overcome all my bad habits. From that point on I decided to dedicate my life to serving others and sharing the message of hope.

How I live my faith

I am attend my local ward regularly. I love going the Sunday meetings and feeling the peace of the spirit. I try to share the message and hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ because I want others to taste of the goodness of the church and the true happiness and peace that it brings. I am a home teacher in my local ward where I go to the home of members in my ward and give an uplifting message of the gospel.
