Hi I'm Jake

I grew up in Nevada. I'm currently serving as a missionary for the church. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I've basically grown up in Nevada and I have learned to love the landscape, people, and culture. I enjoy sports and outdoor activities especially soccer, basketball, hiking, and rock climbing. I plan on attending college in a couple years to begin studying and earning a degree.

Why I am a Mormon

I had the great blessing of being raised in a family who was very active in the church and having parents who tried their best to teach us to follow the teachings of Christ and His servants the prophets. However, there came a point in my youth when I started to doubt if the church was really true and the testimonies of my parents were not enough anymore. I then decided to find out for myself if the gospel was true because I had to know. I prayed a lot during this time to know if the church was true and what I needed to do in order to find out. Not long after I was challenged by an associate to read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover. As I read my doubts and questions slowly started to fade and my testimony began to grow. As I acted on the challenge given at the end of the book to pray to find out if the things inside were true I felt an overwhelming sensation that it was true and it was the word of God! Because of that experience my testimony of not just the Book of Mormon but of many other aspects of the Gospel began to grow into what it is today. I now know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he really did see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in the sacred grove on that spring morning. I know that we were given families to make us happy and that we can be with them forever if we live righteously. I also know that because of Jesus Christ if we don't live righteously or we mess up then we can be forgiven because of the sacrifice Christ made for us because He loves us. I have felt that power in my life and know the indescribable feeling that comes when we repent and rely on the Lord more. I love Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and I know, because I have felt it, that they love me, and all of us, too.

How I live my faith

I am currently a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called to serve in the country of Argentina. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to have a calling where I can be an instrument in the Lord's hands in bringing other people to the knowledge of this gospel which I have learned for myself to be true.
