Hi I'm Joyce Ann Clark

I am a Mormon. I was born in Ohio and raised in KY.

About Me

My mother was a convert to the church in KY and that is where I grew up. I lived in a very small Mormon congregation. I was the only Mormon in grade school, Jr. High, High School and my first year of college. I later went to a Mormon college and eventually majored in music and taught in the public schools for 32 years. Music is my hobby now that I have retired but I also use this talent in church all the time.

Why I am a Mormon

As I said previously, I grew up in a area in KY that was not friendly towards Mormons. I had to defend my religion constantly. It made me strong in my faith and I had a very strong testimony. I still do. I am glad that I lived in the mission field and was instrumental in converting many souls to the Gospel. I am still striving to find souls that are "searching for the truth". I want to share the happiness that I have had all my life in serving the Lord. My mother had lost her little three year old child and she had heard of the Mormon church. When the funeral director asked her where she would like to have the funeral she replied, "the Mormon church, of course!" She couldn't believe she had said that. My grandfather had already joined and she had heard him speak of the church so she asked for missionaries after the funeral. The rest is history.

How I live my faith

I play in a senior band, Clarinet, and sing. I also sing in a mixed chorus. Both these venues give me opportunities to serve my community. I am the church organist and play the organ in one of our local temples. I am so grateful for my talents so that I can continue to give back to the Lord. I have always had music positions in the church until this year and I have added a new calling. I have been called to be an assistant Cub Scout Director! I couldn't believe this calling!?! However, I love it. I look at it as a continuation of my teaching. I didn't realize how much I had missed working with children. My job is purchase the awards, fill out the cards so that they will be ready for the awards ceremonies and I help with some of the music and dance activities. Now I am working with children for the Lord. I also do a lot of research in genealogy. I have some of my ancestors traced back to the 1500's. This is an addictive hobby. I have two little dogs, a Yorkie and a Shih Tzu. I try to walk them often as well as go to the gym to the Silver Sneakers class to stay healthy. I am so proud to be a Mormon. I am so glad that my mother accepted the Gospel and saw to it that my brother and I was raised in the Church. I saw to it that my two sons did the same. They both served missions and now have children getting ready to leave on missions. As they sing in the Lion King. . . . . The Circle of Life.

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Joyce Ann Clark
Christ said he had other sheep in his fold. He did indeed appear to the people in America and set up his Church and taught them the importance of having 12 living apostles as he had in the Old World. We still follow that organization today. We have a prophet to lead us with 12 apostles to guide us. Show more Show less
