Hi I'm Josh

Born and raised in New Zealand. I'm of Maori descent, I love playing the guitar and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Im Josh, Im an only child to two amazing, loving parents. I have a BIG extended family to compensate for having no siblings so Im not missing out. Ive been passionate about music for my whole life. I love all aspects of music. I picked up a guitar when I was 10 years old and haven't put it down since. I also love playing the piano and I even took a stab learning the cello for a little bit. I enjoy all kinds and genres of music. My playlist may range from raggae to heavy metal and everything in between. Even classical. I enjoy the way music can express feelings and emotion. I particularly love music of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Doctrine and Covenants 25:12 reads, "For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me, and it shall be answered with a blessing upon their heads." I feel the spirit when I listen to music that testifies of Jesus Christ and of spiritually uplifting things. I see music as a language that can be understood by all, and like the gospel of Jesus Christ, it brings people together.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been born into a Mormon family so for my childhood and early youth I went along with everything my parents did. It wasn't until I was around 15 where I started wanting to really know for myself if this church was true, if the Book of Mormon was true and if Jesus Christ was real, I always believed these things, but not to the point where I could be honest and say that I truly know that God lives. Today I can confidently say and testify that He does in fact live, that we are His spirit children and that He loves each and every one of us. His son Jesus Christ, lives, and has established His church on the Earth once again in these latter-days.

How I live my faith

I have served as a 'young single adult representitive' for my congregation (YSA rep for short). This position that I have involves fellowshipping a certain age group of Mormons and help them increase their faith in Jesus Christ. You become a young single adult as soon as you turn 18, and you are no longer considered to be a young single adult as soon as you are married, or if you turn 30 (30+ year olds that are unmarried are called single adults). What my position or "calling" involves is teaching YSA Sunday school classes, planning and organizing social and spiritual activities to help strengthen friendships and build relationships among YSA. I also collaborate with other YSA reps of other congregations to plan bigger activities for SA to mingle and help strengthen each other temporally and spiritually. This calling has been a tonne of fun and given me a lot of learning and growing experiences.
