Hi I'm Julie

I'm a mother. I'm a foster mother. I'm a family history enthusiast. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have always had a great love for children. I love talking to them, teaching them and finding out what makes them tick. I love playing with and teaching my two boys. I have had the opportunity to be foster mom to 11 children over the space of 3 years. Through the joys and sorrows associated with foster care these sweet spirits have made a lasting impact on our family. I also love connecting with my roots through family history work. I love finding stories of ancestors and learning about their lives. As I search out my past I feel a greater appreciation for the struggles of those who came before me and how their lives and work shaped who I am today.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know the doctrines and principles taught in the Book of Mormon are true. I know that the Book of Mormon testifies of the divine role and mission of the Savior, Jesus Christ, and of His love for each one of us. I know that as I read the words found in the Book of Mormon, I feel God's love and peace. I know that when I live according to the teachings of the Savior, I experience true and lasting joy. I am a Mormon because I know that the only way I can be with my family forever is through sacred ordinances performed in the holy temples and that means everything to me. I am a Mormon because I know God has called a prophet to be His mouthpiece to the world. I know that through Joseph Smith, Christ's Church and the holy priesthood were restored to the earth. I know that Russell M. Nelson is God's prophet today. When I follow his words, and the words of the latter-day apostles my life is blessed. I'm a Mormon because through prayer and pondering, the Holy Ghost has brought unmistakable assurances of the truth of these and many other things to me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to love others as the Savior would if he were here. I do this in my family as I work to make my home a place of love and kindness. I do this at church as I teach, love and pray for the kids in my 9-10 year old Sunday school class. I do this as a foster parent. I bring children into my home and give them a safe place to live and feel love while their parents are getting the help they need. As we send these children back home I love seeing stronger and healthier families come back together. I do this as I reach out to those around me in an attempt to lift their burdens and help them know that they are loved and valued by me and also by our Savior Jesus Christ. I pray that through my efforts to live my faith, others will feel the love of the Savior in their lives.
