Hi I'm Kylie Thorum

I grew up in Alabama. I love playing volleyball, singing, and dancing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of three girls. I grew up playing competitive sports like swimming, softball, and eventually volleyball. I love going to any and every kind of sports event I can make it to. I've also been in several plays and musicals. I enjoy being able to perform and have fun singing on stage. I also like just goofing off with friends dancing, playing ping-pong, or going on midnight burger runs. I attend Brigham Young University and am pursuing a degree in nursing. I think the human body is a marvelous, fascinating gift. One of my developing hobbies is family history work. I love attending the temple. A dream that I've always had is to travel the world. I love going on little adventures. An upcoming one I have is to serve a mission. I'm excited to serve God's children and find some of my best friends out there.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church and, while going through my teenage years, had to decide for myself why this church is true. I continually rely on the good spirit I feel as I study this gospel. As I studied the basis of this church's restoration, I came to know for myself. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know this because I have studied it and have found it to contain the beautiful doctrine of Jesus Christ. I prayed about it each time I would read through it and have felt the Holy Spirit testifying to my heart of its truthfulness. I've lived by the things taught in this church and they have helped me through things I wasn't sure I could withstand at the time. I would read scriptures about how good things come from God, and this gospel has brought goodness. I've read scriptures on faith that have helped me bridge gaps in my knowledge. I choose to be a member of this church and try become more like my Savior Jesus Christ with every step I take. This gospel teaches me how my family can be together forever. We are children of a divine Heavenly Father who continually watches over us and wants us to return successfully back into His presence. One of my main goals in life is to be happy, and by following this gospel, the gospel of Jesus Christ as restored to the earth, I am finding greater joy in life than I ever thought possible.

How I live my faith

I've had a few church callings in the past. I've been in each class presidency through my teenage years, helped other girls achieve their goals as a Personal Progress Advisor, and aided the youth as a Youth Family Historian. When I came out to BYU, I had the opportunity to serve on the temple, family history, and indexing committee. We encouraged those people in my ward to search their ancestry and learn how to connect their family's past. I think one of my major roles as a member of the church in each of the wards I've been in is to be enthusiastic and encouraging to those around me. I find that if you can get people excited and willing to participate, church functions and activities tend to be more successful. Sometimes that just means showing a little bit of love and care for those around you. You're simply learning to model your life after the Savior's!
