Hi I'm Mackenzie Macfarlane

I'm from Colorado and just finished my first year at BYU. I am called to serve in the Japan Fukuoka mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in Colorado practically my whole life and I grew up doing things outdoors. I love hiking, biking, climbing 14ers, rafting, kayaking, canoeing, camping and anything else outdoors you can think of! I love trying new things- anything from activities to food and crave adventure. I danced for 10 years and I love to sing, run, cook, eat ice cream and spend time with family and friends. I just finished my freshman year of college and had a blast as well as worked really hard! I love participating in service clubs and intramural sports and getting to know tons of people. I love my family very much and we enjoy going out to eat, watching movies, hiking and camping together.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have learned for myself that the Gospel is true. I know that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and a Savior who died for me so that I might return home to my Father in Heaven one day. I have felt the peace that the spirit brings me as I read my scriptures daily and strive to come unto Christ in everything I do. I have seen the power of prayer in my life and I know the my Heavenly Father listens to me as I reach out to Him in personal and group prayer. I know that there is a prophet on the earth today that he is the voice piece of God who brings us modern revelation to guide us through this life. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and another testament of Jesus Christ that brings us closer to him and helps us to know him and to feel his love for us. I know that because of the sacrifice of the Savior, families can live together forever and that there is life after death through the promises made in the temple. We need not fear because we have the Savior of the world on our side. I have seen the power and miracles of the gospel in my life and in the lives of others and I know that He is always there. As I live the commandments and strive to be the best disciple of Christ that I can be, I have felt the blessings of heaven poured upon me and I know that this church is true.

How I live my faith

I love this gospel. I have learning something new everyday from reading my scriptures, daily prayer and reviewing general conference talks often. I recently was the second counselor in my young single adult women's group presidency and I loved holding that position. I got to work closely with other girls in my ward and came to love my group of girls more than I knew was possible. I am thankful for the decisions I have made in the past such as baptism that have led me to be where I am today with my faith. I have chosen to serve a full time mission and have been called to the Japan Fukuoka mission. I report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on June 22 where I will be for about 9 weeks learning the Japanese language and also learning how best to teach the gospel to the people. I am so incredibly excited for this opportunity and feel immensely blessed to be able to serve my Father in Heaven in this capacity. One of my favorite ways to come closer to my Heavenly Father is by going to the temple. The temple is the house of the Lord and is a sacred place where we make promises with God. We also redeem the dead in the temple and help them to come closer to their Father in Heaven as well. I am thankful for my membership in the church and for the blessings it has brought to my life.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Mackenzie Macfarlane
It is important to come to know our Heavenly Father through personal prayer. He knows us and loves us perfectly, and He wants us to come unto Him and tell Him all of our thoughts, feelings, concerns and happiness in our life. Prayer is the avenue for learning that our Heavenly Father has offered us, and I know that He listens when we pray to Him. He may not answer your prayers in the way you would prefer but He always answers your prayers. He knows what is best for you and will always be there to watch over and guide you. Trust in Him.
