Hi I'm Abby

..just a girl from Salt Lake City. I love soccer and love to laugh. I'm preparing to serve a mission in Chile. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Salt Lake City; however, I wasn't born and raised LDS. I'm a convert and was baptized at the age of 18. I love to play soccer and draw. I wouldn't necessarily say I love reading, but I love to read when I find the right book. My favorite seasons are summer and fall, and I love the transition between the two. I love being outside in the sun, especially on the beach or at the pool. I love music and I love to laugh! I just finished my first year of college and have been called to serve in the Chile Osorno Mission! I cannot wait to serve the Lord and the people of Chile!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true with all my heart. When I was a sophomore in high school my friends invited me to take seminary as I was in search for another class to add to my second semester schedule. I enjoyed attending seminary, but to be honest most of the time I just felt out of place and felt like something was missing. Well something was missing. A couple of months later my cousin passed away after going into anaphylactic schock due to a peanut allergy. At this point in my life I was so confused and upset, and the only thing that kept me going was attending seminary. I began to develop an interest in the gospel and the Book of Mormon. I was absolutely in love with the Plan of Salvation and every ounce of my soul knew it was so true. Now I wish I could tell you that my interest in the Church was sparked and instantly things fell into place and I was baptized, but the adversary was so strong. I faced a lot of trials and hardships until finally my dad told me that when I turned eighteen I could do whatever I wanted, but until then I needed to let it go. I can't tell you how discouraged I was. It was hard to have faith and act on the faith that I did have while feeling that I was disappointing my family. There were times when I thought that maybe it just wasn't worth it, and thought about giving up, but I'm so thankful that God did not give up on me. I was baptized the Saturday after my eighteenth birthday and it was easily the best day of my entire life so far. I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for each and every one of his children, whether it goes exactly the way they want it to, or take a completely different path. His timing and His plan are perfect. I am so grateful for my Savior and His atoning sacrifice. The gospel gives my life meaning and purpose. I know The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is absolutely true and am so much happier when I am living the gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through prayer, scripture study, and by attending church which is sometimes hard to do being the only member in my family (aside from my little sister who was baptized a year ago). I love to go to the temple and want to strive to make it a weekly habit. I will also be serving a mission shortly.
