Hi I'm Laurel

I'm a college student, I love to laugh and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a college student wanting to major in accounting, but I'm not the quiet boring type you might picture being an accountant! I love being active and spending time with those who matter most to me. You can probably find me out on a run early in the morning or going on an evening hike with my family. I have been playing the piano since the 1st grade and I especially enjoy learning different arrangements of LDS Hymns. Being the oldest of 5 kids has given me the opportunity to be the first to take big life steps in my family. Some of these firsts were learning to drive, going to prom and moving out of the house. While many people feel like a "guinea pig" being the oldest, I've found that this role in my family has positively shaped who I am today! Having younger siblings has helped me learn how to be very loving and caring towards others. I also believe being the oldest has led me to be someone who is willing to try new things and go into situations with excitement rather than fear!

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has brought me so much comfort in a world of so much uncertainty. Being a Mormon doesn't mean your life will be a peace of cake just because you are following the Gospel of Christ, but it does mean that when you go through the hard times that are guaranteed in this life you will be able to get through them with the help of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. When I've experienced trials and tribulations the knowledge of a life beyond this one helps me keep an eternal perspective and helps me remember that in the grand scheme of things this is only a small moment. As I've tried to picture what my life will be like and made goals that I feel are in-line with what God would have me do, I can be comforted knowing that when things don't always go as I had planned them, He has a better way for me to become the greatest I can be. If I try to picture my life without the knowledge of the Gospel I know that there is no other way that my life could be as happy as it is with the knowledge I have.

How I live my faith

I try hard to live my faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ by being trying to be a genuine friend to everyone I meet. Rather than judging someone the first time I meet them I choose to see them more as Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ see them. Everyone I meet is one of my brothers and sisters, a child of God just like me. Regardless of others beliefs or life choices I can still respect them while living my beliefs. Jesus said love everyone and that's what I want to continue to do.
