Hi I'm Tressa

I'm from Seattle. I love Marvel movies. I work with children. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student and I love reading and hiking and singing in choirs.

Why I am a Mormon

I live the standards of the LDS church because the doctrine accurately explains the purpose of the earth and our coming to it. It is logical as much as it is divine. I find peace in understanding why I exist and what I need to be prepared for. My church teaches us how to love each other even when we struggle and/or screw up. If I could only give one reason why I follow the commandments it would be because it keeps me focused on the best paths through this life and beyond---and with that comes a happiness and security that doesn't waver. It is the one consistent thing in this world.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by teaching children at my church about Jesus Christ. In fact, I will continue to teach about Jesus Christ as I serve a full-time church mission. I study the Bible and Book of Mormon daily so I can better serve my community---the Bible and Book of Mormon are the words of Christ. I try to live and love as Christ does even though I am far from perfect.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Tressa
Dictionary.com defines "atonement" as "satisfaction or reparation for a wrong or injury; amends." THE atonement is what Jesus did to fully understand us and to ensure our return to Heavenly Father after we die. Near the end of His life, Jesus went into the Garden of Gethsemane and by God's hand, suffered every pain and affliction we have ever and will ever feel in our lives. All of us who have been born on earth before, now, and in the future have been suffered for. "He bled at every pore" because "no unclean thing can dwell in the presence of God". By literally taking our pains upon himself, He paid the debt our imperfections cause and therefore we can become clean again if we choose. That option to become clean allows us the option to live with Heavenly Father again after we die---if we choose that, we can become as powerful and perfect and as omnipotent as Heavenly Father. ALL of us have the potential to become that because we are His children and it is passed on to us. Show more Show less
