Hi I'm Erica

I'm a college student, ballerina, and I love free food. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

As a 19 year old college student, there are many things about me that are fairly stereotypical. For one, I love free things--including food, t-shirts, pens--anything. I also spend most of my time studying, and sometimes have to sacrifice my Friday nights so that I can pass a test. When asked about my hobbies I immediately think of ballet, since I have studied it all my life. I dance for the touring company at my university, which means that I get to travel and meet a lot of fascinating people! It also means that when I am not studying, I am in the studio rehearsing. It can be pretty monotonous sometimes, and my feet hurt and are permanently ugly, but I really love ballet. I also enjoy swimming, so I spend my summers life guarding and coaching a youth swim team. My hair gets really damaged and I get the worst sunglasses tan line on my face, and it's so worth it. But probably my favorite thing to do is to spend time with my family. I have two older brothers, a younger sister, and a sister-in-law, and I don't think I could love anybody more than I love them. My two dogs also claim to be part of the family, and let's be real here--they're really the ones in charge.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon makes me happy, it is as simple as that. Because let's face it, life is super hard! Everyone goes through so many difficult things--me, you, your friend, that weird guy on the street--everyone. But through my knowledge of the gospel, I know that these hard times will pass, and that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me. He knows each of us individually and wants to help us be happy and make the right choices so that we can return to live with Him again. I love being a Mormon. I love the knowledge that it brings me about getting through these hard times. It is amazing that we have God looking out for us, and that He has our best interest at heart. What an amazing gift.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through being the best person that I can be, and helping others to do the same. I think the best way to share the gospel is to be an example to others. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we represent Christ (it is His church!) and so we must do as He would do! To me, living my faith means smiling at people, opening doors, saying thank you, talking to someone, or spending time with people. The gospel means "good news," and I want to spread that good news in any way I can--even if that means simply brightening someone's day.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is knowing that the gospel is true. We know that the gospel is true when we pray and receive an answer from the Holy Ghost. For me, I kneel down to pray and ask about the truthfulness of the gospel often, and each time I receive a warm and happy feeling inside me. I have a testimony that there are prophets on the earth today, and that they are tools God uses to guide and direct His children. I have a testimony that Jesus Christ died for us and that He carried out the infinite Atonement so that we may live with Him and our Father in heaven again. I know these things because I have prayed about them, and I have experienced the "good news" of the gospel in my life. Show more Show less
