Hi I'm Debbie

I grew up in Utah, I'm married, I have 8 children and 16 grandchildren. I'm a teacher, a nurse, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a busy mom, grandma, and nursing professor at Brigham Young University. I live in a mountain home with my husband where we enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, 4-wheeling and snowmobiling. We love to have our children and grandchildren come to our home for family activities. My background is in women's health nursing; I'm currently teaching nursing students. I went back to school after my children were all in school. I have worked in labor and delivery, maternity and a women's health clinic. I have taught classes in Nurse Assisting, Licensed Practical Nursing, and Registered Nursing programs in Utah. My favorite activity is spending time with grandkids. Some of my favorite things include waterfalls, Disneyland and chocolate!

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to have been raised in the LDS Church. I have gained a strong testimony of my own through personal learning and experiences. I recognize the Lord's hands in every aspect of my life. The blessing of having an eternal family is the most important thing we can work for in this life. My sixth pregnancy resulted in a stillborn son; however, I know I will see him again in the next life and that he is a part of our eternal family. The gospel plan is a plan of happiness! Living the principles of the gospel is a protection for our families from the problems in the world. I can't imagine raising children without the gospel of Jesus Christ as a guide. I have a testimony of a loving Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ. I know we have the Holy Ghost to guide us every day. I know we have a living prophet to guide us and that Joseph Smith restored the gospel in our day. I love the Book of Mormon and other scriptures. I look forward to the messages from our General Authorities and try to apply their teachings to my daily life. I love the gospel and look forward to sharing it as a missionary!

How I live my faith

I try to be an instrument in the Lord's hands every day. I look for ways to make a difference in the lives of my family members, students, and the people I visit and work with in my ward. I'm currently working in the women's organization of the church and am preparing to serve a full-time mission with my husband. I have had a variety of assignments in my ward including teaching children, youth, and adults, leading and playing music, and in presidencies of organizations. I believe that no matter how busy we are, serving the Lord comes first. I believe in following the Savior and developing Christ-like characteristics. I live by faith by being a good example.
