Hi I'm Janae

I grew up in western Washington, am a sister to 5 boys and 2 girls, was a college student, but now I'm a Mormon missionary!

About Me

I am the oldest girl in my family. I have five brothers and two sisters. My two older brothers recently returned from serving missions in Uruguay and Chile and I just recently received my call. My parents raised us in western Washington where my family went hiking and camping a lot so I now love anything outdoors. My mom home schooled me and my family and is still homeschooling my younger siblings. I moved at age 15 to Idaho, due to my Aunt passing away from cancer and wanting to be closer to her three children (our cousins) whom I consider as close to me as my own siblings. I love singing, reading, and teaching the Sunbeams! I have a special love for children and the elderly as I have been a Nanny and worked in an assisted living home. Just before my senior year, I was trying to figure out which college I wanted to go to and what I needed to do to get there. I discovered the Pathway program through BYU-Idaho and knew that was the right path for me (pun intended). I completed my GED and finished Pathway, graduating at the end of my senior year. I continued doing some online classes through BYU-Idaho until my mission call went through.

Why I am a Mormon

I have worked hard to gain a testimony, to know the truth of what the gospel teaches. If I questioned anything about the gospel, I searched for the answers through the scriptures and words of our apostles and prophets. It is because of the things that I have learned to be true for myself that I am a Mormon. I know that through seeking the spirit in these matters that I have felt his presence guide and comfort me and helped me to know I am a daughter of a loving Heavenly Father who wants me to return to him. I know the only way is through my Savior, Jesus Christ, to atone for our sins, that He suffered and died because He loves us. I know that They called Joseph Smith as a prophet to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ back on the earth in this last dispensation to never again be removed. I know that the plan of salvation is true and through prayer, listening to the words of our prophets, reading the scriptures, making and keeping sacred covenants, and especially, enduring to the end that we may live with our Heavenly Father again as eternal beings like Him with our families forever. I look forward to sharing these principles on my mission with the guidance and direction of the Lord as I serve.

How I live my faith

I have always prayed and read my scriptures for the knowledge and comfort to know which path is the right one for me. I did when we moved and also when I discovered the Pathway program through BYU-Idaho. I had to stay in tune spiritually as I completed the GED, finished Pathway, and continued with some hard online classes. But most of all was the impression to go on a mission. I prayed about it and felt like it was right for me through the enormous amount of peace that swept over me. I was amazed at how everything at that point flowed so that all of my appointments were able to be scheduled that week and my call sent out the next! Life in a large household is always busy and everything happens so fast that it can be hard to appreciate and really think about all the blessings in my life and how much of a privilege it is to be preparing for this special calling. I worry about my family, now that my Dad is looking for work, but I trust that the Lord will take care of them while I am gone. I know He will help me find those ready to receive the gospel to teach them with the spirit. It will be an honor to work with so many righteous brothers and sisters very soon. I will do everything I can to be ready and prepared for this work to meet every expectation. I want to be the kind of missionary that shows love for all of God's children and be able to express the love our Savior has for them and the blessings waiting in store for them.
