Hi I'm Taylor Higa

I was born and raised on the beautiful island of Oahu, I love dogs and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a convert to the church and got baptized on January 10, 2015. I am the first and only member of my family to join the church. I have a twin sister. I love to play the piano. I did volleyball and pole-vault throughout high school. I just finished my freshman year at BYU and will be returning in 2018 after I serve a mission in Daejeon, Korea.

Why I am a Mormon

In October General Conference of 2014, Elder Bednar gave a talk addressed specifically to non members titled Come and See. At that time, I was not a member and had been investigating the church for several months. His message really stuck out to me because it addressed the question “Why are Latter-day Saints so eager to tell me about what they believe and to invite me to learn about their church?” To do so, he shared a personal experience about his two sons. One evening while playing outside, the younger of the two boys had gotten injured. The older boy proactively took control of the situation ad proceeded to console his younger brother by washing out the tiny wound with dish soap and smeared ointment. He then proceeded to apply a sea of bandages covering his entire arm, despite the minor degree of his wound. After he was all patched up and treated, the younger boy immediately reciprocated the act on his friends. Even though none of them had wounds, he began to put ointment and bandages on their arms as well. This little boy’s sincerity, enthusiasm, and rapidity of his response answers the question proposed earlier. It’s simple, when we receive something that makes us happy or find something that is valuable or meaningful to us, our first instinct is to share it with others. Much like the little boy in the story, a really good friend from high school shared with me what brings him the greatest joy, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Till this day, I will be forever grateful for the blessing and courage it took to share this message with me. The amount of happiness and peace it has brought in my life is indescribable and irreplaceable. I cannot wait to share this message with the people of Korea!

How I live my faith

The best way I live my faith is by trying to be an example to others and magnifying my duty as a daughter of God by helping others see their divine potential and worth through God's eyes. I love sharing this happy message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. In the past, I have also participated in choir to help share the message of the restored gospel through music.
