Hi I'm Kaitlyn Larsen

Ohio born, Minnesota raised. Nanny, Big sister, outdoor lover. Student. Poland Warsaw Missionary. Cancer sibling. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I find that the world in which we live is incredible. Incomprehensible. Especially the people. My personal quote for my life is "many people say they want to see the world. I do not want to see the world, I want to experience the world." I love to travel and to learn about the cultures of the world - I love learning about people! In all my travels what I have come to realize is that despite the portrayal of the world being evil and corrupt, there is SO. MUCH. GOOD. out there. I am a student at Brigham Young University and a big sister of my three favorite people on this planet! I love being active! My favorite sports are swimming, biking, running, kickball, and Aussie handball. I have learned that you do not have to be good at something to enjoy it. In my free time I love to write, play with kids, listen to music, take naps, cook, play with my dog, and spend sometime in my secret spot on my roof. BUT my most favorite thing to do is spend time in the outdoors. Anywhere, doing just about anything - I thrive in nature. I believe that the beauty of the world around us is testament alone to the glory of God. One of the highlights of my life was when I was an AuPair in Australia. I nannied for an incredible family with a boy with Down Syndrome. Special needs kids have a special place in my heart! They have so much light - any time spent with them is time well spent. I also love to make big plans! Most of them never come true, but one can dream! :)

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family active in the church - however, my personal conversion had to happen on my own. It happened gradually as I "experimented on the word" and saw the blessings that come from this gospel. I felt a relationship growing with God and eventually could not, and now could never, deny the reality of His active presence in my life and the truthfulness of His gospel here on the Earth. I have many times wondered what my life might be like if I was not a member of this church. Quickly I conclude that I cannot even grasp how different my life would be, but it certainly would not be nearly as good as the one I live now. This gospel completely changes lives. I know that this gospel is true. I know it. There is a striking difference between those who are members are those who are not - there is a light in their eyes. It is true that Mormons 'have a look' - it is that light. I want that light. I want peace and I want joy. I want to know who my God is and what His role is in my life. I want to be the best person that I can be. - That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I believe that faith is not just something you live once or twice a week or on certain occasions, but is something that your very behavior is a constant testament too. I try my best to live my faith everyday by developing and living the characteristics of Christ. I go to church every Sunday, mid-week meetings, events, and activities, and in high school I went to church before school every day. None of the roles in our church are paid, including the Bishop. We run completely on volunteer work. I have been a leader in youth groups, music conductor, and a missionary coordinator, among other things for my church. Right now, however, I am serving as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the gorgeous Eastern European country of Poland. When we serve as full-time missionaries, we leave school, relationships, our family, entertainment, and many other things behind us. Serving a mission is a choice I made because I love God and I know what He did for me. I cannot wait to share the light that I know the gospel brings.
