Hi I'm Randy

I grew up in San Diego, California. I love to be outdoors, especially when I can run. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in San Diego, California where I met my wife when we were 9 years old! We attended school together from the 4th grade until we graduated from high school. I graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Business/Finance. We've been married for almost 41 years. We have 8 adult children and 12 beautiful grandchildren who are the light of our lives! We were taught the Gospel by full-time missionaries in Bellflower, CA and have been active members of the LDS church for 40 years. We moved to Utah shortly after we were baptized. We are preparing to serve an 18-month mission in Florida in the Gainesville Young Single Adult Branch where we will also teach Institute to students at the University of Florida.

Why I am a Mormon

I am grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Before I was baptized, I had questions such as 'Why did God send prophets to the earth in biblical times but then leave us without prophets today?' I believe that He loved His children then and He loves us now. He has called modern-day prophets to lead us today. I know that we lived with God before we were born and that we will live with Him again after we die. It's important to me to know that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The LDS church is organized the same way it was when Jesus Christ lived in the Holy Land, with prophets and apostles. God sent His Son to be the Savior of the world and to atone for our sins -- the greatest of all gifts. I believe the Bible to be the Word of God. The Book of Mormon is another testament of the Lord Jesus Christ. It tells of an ancient civilization -- people who believed in the Lord before He was born and who witnessed Him as the resurrected Christ after He was crucified. As in ancient days, Priesthood ordinances are performed in LDS temples all over the world for both the living and those who have died before receiving the Gospel. I am very thankful that my family is sealed for time and all eternity and grateful to be able to attend the temple regularly.

How I live my faith

The LDS church is organized into wards and stakes based on geographical neighborhoods. All positions in the ward, including the Bishop as the ecclesiastical leader, receive no monetary compensation. Over the years I have served as a councilor in the Bishopric, in an Elders Quorum presidency, on the Stake High Council, as a Scoutmaster and Young Men's President, Sunday School teacher, Primary teacher, Executive Secretary, and as a home teacher. The Savior taught by example that "when we are in the service of our fellow men, we are only in the service of our God." Service to others (to my family, church, and community) is the center of my life. That is my daily focus.
