Hi I'm Gideon

I have grown up and live in Taylorsville Utah. I love basketball and playing games with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Right now I'm a senior in high school and I plan on attending collage when I have finished with my mission. I have played the piano since I was 8 and the trumpet since I was 10. I also enjoy running, and have been a part of several relay teams.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents have been active in the church their whole lives. So I have grown up in the gospel. I have always had a partial testimony of the church, but for a long time I was living with "borrowed light" in other words trusting the church because my family did. Now that I am older and more mature, I can say that I know for myself that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. I have never had a specific experience where my testimony was created, but rather seeing tender mercies and miracles. As a little boy my older brother and I shared a bedroom. Occasionally, when trying to fall asleep he would over think possible scenarios. Like if an earthquake happened and he was alone.I have felt the Holy Ghost when I have been scared over what is in the dark as a young boy and with what scares me now, and I feel him when I am sad and downhearted. I know the Book of Mormon is true, because I have prayed about it and received a conformation about its truthfulness. I know that this is the true church because God loves us and he wants us to be happy. He has given us the opportunity to be with our families for all time and eternity. Because God loves us he has also given us a prophet for our day. He has been called to serve as God's mouthpiece, to help navigate us past the pitfalls of life and to help us become more like Christ. I know this church is God's church restored again to this Earth, through the prophet Joseph Smith. That God and Jesus Christ visited him in a grove of trees when he was only 14 years old, and that through him a marvelous work has been restored. That is my testimony, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a youth assistant for 16-18 year old boys in my ward, my dad and I check in with 5 families around the neighborhood to see how they are doing, as well as helping the students in my high school specifically those in the Seminary program. I am an Eagle scout and continue to participate with the other scouts in my neighborhood.
