Hi I'm Heidi Wood

I'm a missionary in the Tennessee Knoxville Mission! I'm from California and it's been cool to come out here and share the gospel!

About Me

I attend school at BYU-Idaho I am currently studying marriage and family but I am going to switch it soon to something that I am not sure of yet. I have received my mission call for a mission in the Tennessee Knoxville mission where I will serve for a period of 18 months teaching people about what I believe. I am getting more and more excited to go and teach the people of Tennessee about what I believe, even if it's hard I know that with God's help and if I endure to the end I can withstand anything.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church but I have chosen to stay in the church because there has never been any doubt in my mind that the gospel is true. I have prayed if the Book of Mormon is true and if the church is true but I know that I didn't really need to because I knew that they were true before I prayed but praying about it still strengthened my testimony. As I said before there has never been any doubt in my mind that this gospel is true, I truly believe that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon and that this is Christ's restored gospel on the Earth today and the only true church.

How I live my faith

I do community service at least once a year with my ward or branch. When I have a calling in my ward or branch I do what I can to fulfill the calling. When asked I'll give talks in the big church meeting called sacrament meeting. Sometimes I'll give lessons in other church meetings if I am asked to do so. My family and I seek to have the missionaries over every month for dinner, and now I myself am going to serve as a missionary for my church and will serve Heavenly Father and do his work through my own faith in him and Jesus Christ.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Heidi Wood
We practice baptism for the dead so that those who have passed away can have the blessing of baptism since they never got it while they were alive. Many of them have been waiting a long time for it to happen and sometimes especially if you are doing your own family name you can feel their spirit in the room with you while you are doing the baptism for them. It is a wonderful feeling doing baptisms for the dead whether it be for your family or not. It's nice to know that through us they can receive the fullness of the gospel. Show more Show less
