Hi I'm Casey

I'm an artist, desert-dweller, future Japanese missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of three and my siblings are my best friends. I just finished my first year of college and am preparing to serve an LDS Mission in Japan. I can't wait! In college I joined a folk dance team and had a blast learning about many beautiful cultures through dance. For my major, I studied art and applied to my university's prestigious animation program. I didn't get into the program, but I learned a lot and had a ton of fun! I can't wait to apply again. Along with art, I love the outdoors, road trips, and enjoy playing sports, hiking, and jamming on my guitar.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always known that Jesus, our brother, loves us all so much. I was baptized when I was eight, and I can still remember the peace I felt coming out of the water. I was forgiven of my sins, and knew that we can all can be forgiven by turning our hearts to Christ. I believe that God speaks to us today through the Holy Ghost and through prophets. He loves us so much, and wants to help us. When I was about 12 years old, I prayed to Heavenly Father with a question. I prayed in faith, believing he would answer me, and I received my answer by a warm, quiet whispering of the Holy Ghost. After that experience, I have sought comfort and knowledge many times, and God has always sent answers. Along with receiving personal answers for ourselves, we have a prophet who receives answers for everybody. I know that God speaks to us today through prophets, as he did anciently. I am a Mormon because I believe in God and His son, Jesus Christ. I believe they have given us their own power and authority, called the priesthood, to act on their behalf here on earth. I know that the priesthood is the true power of God and can heal the sick and seal families together forever. I know that Jesus Christ loved us enough to come down to Earth and atone for all our sins. I know that God lives and loves us. I know that the Holy Ghost speaks to us for them. I know that the Bible and the Book of Mormon are God's words and their application in our lives helps us be like our Savior. I know that Prophets speak for God. I know that families can be together forever. I know God's grace is real and brings happiness and peace!

How I live my faith

Faith, along with believing and hoping in God's love and mercy, includes action. I live my faith by keeping Heavenly Father's commandments. I read the scriptures and try to apply their teachings to my life. Praying and meditating on the scriptures, as well as seeking God and communicating with Him through prayer, helps me know that He is there for me. I try to follow Jesus' example in my treatment of others. I'm definitely not perfect (no one is), but I know by doing the little things and being kind, I can come closer to Christ and can help others feel his love, too. I also love music, and I've tried to use my musical talents to help others have fun and feel God's love. Music brings peace and is a language everyone understands. I play the piano, and I have served in my congregation by playing hymns for worship on Sundays. I've played my guitar at church camps as well, sharing silly songs as well as hymns and spirituals to praise God and bring the group together.
