Hi I'm Joshua Ethan Brown

I grew up in Arizona, Serving in Sweden, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving in the Sweden, Stockholm Mission, where I am able to be in constant contact with refugees from across the Middle East and North Africa - and I love it! Before my mission, I studied Arabic, Islam and the history of the Middle East to prepare myself to work as a translator between Arabic and English. There is nothing more satisfying then using my very limited Arabic skills to talk to a refugee on the Bus who can speak about the same amount of English back to me as I can Arabic to him/her. It makes talking so much more fun and enjoyable for both parties, and people who can speak Arabic are so filled with joy that someone else is trying to learn more about them, instead of the other way around. I love it! I am also a firm believer in the power of the Book of Mormon. When talking to refugees, I bring up how I study Arabic - the Book of Mormon. It makes for great conversations, and they usually ask how much it costs. That is the next best part. I get to say, "You can have it; it is free", at which point they thank me and we switch numbers and meet up later with a real Arabic translator. That is what I live for at the moment. It may be small moments that are best for me, but they are leaving an impact on my love for all the people in Sweden, regardless of origin. I also love to read fantasy books (Lord of the Rings, Wheel of Time, Percy Jackson, Mistborn, Stormlight, little Harry Potter, etc.), study languages, read history, and be with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the hope and peace that I feel knowing that, whatever happens in this world, is for a reason. There is no question that God cannot answer. The Book of Mormon is evidence of this. It is a witness that Jesus is the Christ; no writer in the Book of Mormon claims to be perfect. However, they all witness of the perfect love that God has for us, and the perfect Gospel they - as imperfect people - proclaim to us. The Book of Mormon was made for you and for me, and you can know that, too, if you will read the Book of Mormon and prove its words. Literally. Go ahead. Test it. It is not written perfectly. The introduction by the Prophet Mormon asserts his inadequacies quite clearly, alongside almost every other prophet in the Book of Mormon. Rather, it is another Witness that Jesus is the Christ and that it is only through Him that we can be saved. There would be no need for the Book of Mormon if it did not testify of that. Pray to know that this book is true, really wanting to know and willing to follow the answer that you receive; it will come. I have a personal testimony of that, and I will go as far to assert that no power can take that testimony from me. If I doubt, it does not change the fact that God does exist. So why doubt? That is why I am a Mormon. My testimony is founded on the Book of Mormon, the keystone of our religion, which teaches that Jesus is the Christ. He lives today. And you can know, too. Just like I have prayed and received an answer from God, so can you. Do not ask others to describe salt; it is free. Taste it, and you can see. It is because I have received many answers that the Book of Mormon is true that I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am a missionary and love to spread this Gospel with EVERYONE!

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Start with yourself. Do not allow such influences a handle in your life. Make sure to constantly read the scriptures and sincerely speak to your Heavenly Father. If you have trouble with such influences, ask for help either from your Bishop or from Heavenly Father directly. Have the drive to want to stay clean. Show more Show less
