Hi I'm Kirsten

I grew up in Denton Texas. I love hiking. I am pursuing my dream to become a nurse. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I absolutely love hiking because it is such a calming experience. I attend Brigham Young University- Idaho, and I am working towards getting into the nursing program which I have wanted to do for seven years. Also I enjoy spending time crocheting, and on occasion when I make time I read.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know He lives! The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a Christ centered church that teaches the gospel that Christ taught when he was on the earth. Knowing this is really the rock of my testimony. Because Heavenly Father cares about each one of us so individualistically, he sent His son to die for me. He suffered through everything that I have gone through, and everyone elses so that we can make it back to God. Jesus was the perfect teacher because he taught with love and understanding. Whenever I was younger, I had a hard time feeling the spirit because I closed myself off from that bless. Through their diligence of teaching with love and understanding my teachers were able to open my heart to the truths of the gospel. I know that Joseph Smith restored the gospel in the latter-day. I know that there are current prophets that are able to communicate with God. Why would He not communicate with us like he did with those in the times of old? I know that families are central to God's plan of happiness on earth because they are set up like the family we have in heaven with a Heavenly Father and a Heavenly Mother.

How I live my faith

As a single adult, I attend a singles ward with people my own age. This is nice when visiting teaching because almost everyone is in the same place in their life. Visiting teaching is whenever members are assigned to go and visit other members every month to share a spiritual thought. Being able to have this duty has helped me build better friendships with women in the ward. Spending time at activities such as Family Home Evening occurs on Monday nights and is a time for the ward to get together and have a fun activity. This helps me by surrounding myself with the people who have the same standards as I do, and helps me grow a deeper love for those around me.

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Kirsten
Having the tools for being self-reliant is important because when you are able to care for yourself you gain personal independence and a stronger sense of self respect. Another reason is because once we are able to take care of ourselves then we can start to help those around us to grow by nurturing them with service. Mormons talk about emergency awareness because when we have the things we need for an emergency we are building our self-reliance. Show more Show less
