Hi I'm Megan Erickson!

I grew up in Utah, I played high school and college basketball, I am a Mormon

About Me

My name is Megan and I am from a blended family. I have 2 brothers and a sister and my mom married her new husband and I now have 4 step sisters. I have a crazy big family with 4 parents, 4 new sisters and a huge St. Bernard, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. My family loves sports so I started playing basketball in 5th grade and worked my way up to Varsity in HS. I wanted to go on a mission after I graduated but the opportunity to play college basketball came up and I took it. I had a tough season my freshman year in college but I learned so much. The season also helped me realized that my next step in life was to serve an LDS mission. I am now serving in Singapore and Malaysia for 18 months. It's going to be hard to leave basketball and my family, but I am so excited to see what the Lord has in store for me. I am so excited to share this gospel because it blesses lives. And there is always basketball after my mission:) I could live in the mountains! I'd actually prefer mountains over city or beach. I've never felt more close to my Heavenly Father than I do when I'm at my cabin and outside looking at the night sky. I love camping, in a tent because that's the best way, hiking on mountains, and hunting with my dad! I also love photography. It has been one of my hobbies since Jr high. I have taken pictures of weddings, senior pictures, Prom, and more! It's a great stress reliever and I can always use this hobby anytime and anywhere!

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in this church has blessed my life in ways I never could have imagined. I have had to learn for myself that this is the true church of Christ and my testimony has grown because of it. My freshmen year of college, I was on my own and realized that I wanted to be apart of this gospel for myself not just because my family told me to. I love going to church every Sunday because the week can just get so crazy and church attendance really helps me prepare myself for the upcoming week. There are times I do catch myself just going through the motions, but when I really listen to the prayers and speakers during the meetings, I become overwhelmed with the Spirit of God. The Book of Mormon is the word of God and has been able to help me with questions I have come across throughout my life. This book has blessed my life and gives me comfort whenever I read it. I am so grateful for the peace that I receive when I attend the temple and I am so excited for the day I am sealed to my future husband for eternity. This is an amazing gospel and it brings so much joy and happiness to my life. I'm excited to share this gospel and give the people of Singapore hope in Jesus Christ!

How I live my faith

I love to go to church every Sunday. It's a great restart for the week. I loved being in young women's in high school and learning about myself and becoming closer to the girls and leaders in my ward. I love being a missionary! I have learned so much just by being in the MTC and I can't wait to see what else I'll learn while serving in Singapore! Being a missionary and put more meaning to being a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I have developed more faith in my Savior because of it.

What do Mormons believe about family?

Megan Erickson!
Families are ordained of God! The amazing thing about this gospel is that it gives the assurance that families can live together forever in the presence of God. When there is a loss of a loved family member, we have the knowledge through the gospel that we will see them again. We were placed in families to grow up in a loving and safe atmosphere. God gave us families to be happy while we are here on this earth. I love my family so much and so happy that I can be sealed with them and when I get married, I can be sealed to my husband and own family for eternity. Family is so important. I wouldn't be who I am today without the love and support of my family. Show more Show less
