Hi I'm Jessica

I grew up in Southern California. I am a family studies major at my university, and I am passionate about culture and diversity.

About Me

I am currently a university student. I am working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Behavior Sciences with an empahsis in Family Studies. I enjoy studying the family unit as an important institution accross the world and among different religions and people. I grew up in a place where there was a diverse population with people of all different backgrounds, and I feel that this upbringing as influenced a lot of the person that I am today. I love to travel to different places and see all the things that human beings have in common and different from each other.

Why I am a Mormon

There are thousands of religious denominations all over the world. So why be a Mormon? I am a Mormon not because it is popular, not because it is convenient and not out of tradition. I am a mormon because there came a time where I wanted to know if what the mormons professed was true. Over several years I personally studied the teachings of the religion (the teachings of Jesus Christ and His prophets), attended the meetings, and most importantly, I asked God Himself, in prayer, if it was the true church. I received personal answers and conformations from His Spirit that I can not, and will not ever be able to deny. I am a Mormon because it makes sense to me. In a world where things are constantly changing, where evil exists, and where trials are inevitable, I crave consistency. The Gospel of Jesus Christ, helps me to have consistency and a guide to follow in life. It offers me a peace that I have not been able to find anywhere else. It guarantees that if I just keep trying, that I can be happy. As a Mormon, decisions are not made with a limited temporal view, but with an eternal (life after death) perspective. It is as a Mormon that I can be a part of Christ's church and be blessed by His authority that He has given to His prophets. As a Mormon I have been able to see myself as a daughter of God with infinite potential. I have come to know, and am continuing to know Jesus Christ as my Savior. It is my personal relationship with Him and conversion to His Gospel that help me to be a better me. As a Mormon I have learned how I can feel a perfect love from Jesus Christ and that has helped me to better respect myself and others. The Gospel of Jesus Christ that mormons believe in, is my anchor in the constantly moving sea of life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying. By trying over and over again. I am in no way perfect in my attempts to live my faith, but I am great at trying! I try to live my faith by the ways that I live. I want my beliefs within me to reflect in my outward appearance and conduct. I live my faith by constantly learning more to stengthen my faith and by seeking conformation from the most pure source, which is my Heavenly Father, my God. He and His Son Jesus Christ are who confirm my faith and help me to keep trying!
