Hi I'm Colton

"I grew up in Utah. I'm an athlete and a performer. I'm a Mormon."

About Me

I love to play sports. I like playing almost any sport but my favorites are American football, basketball, soccer, and ultimate Frisbee. I am a very competitive person, often too competitive. I love to sing. I feel very strongly that music can either invite the spirit of God or it can drive it away. I love the outdoors. Nature is so beautiful and reminds me of God's love for me as an individual.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have Received a confirmation that the Book of Mormon is truly the word of God. I have felt the spirit testify to me that it is something that I need to base my life off of. I'm a Mormon because God has told me that I should be Mormon. Although I grew up a member of this church I still had to come to know for myself. I still had to fight to gain a testimony of these things. I am a Mormon because I have seen the teachings change lives dramatically.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a full time mission in Columbus Ohio. A mission is where an individual leaves their home for 18 months to 2 years. I will be serving a two year mission to help spread the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I study daily, pray often, serve, love everyone, attend the temple, attend sacrament meeting, and share the truths I have learned with everyone who will let me.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Colton
I like to compare our beliefs on homosexuality to our beliefs about pornography. Neither action constitutes hatred of the person or any judgement of the individual, both however are sinful. Many members do judge those who have chosen to live a homosexual lifestyle in spite of the church's official stance. That is not right and is also sinful in a different way. the church encourages people to be accepting but it also encourages us to be the best we can be. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Colton
We believe in the atonement of Jesus Christ. The concept of the atonement is something that is very difficult for the human mind to wrap itself around. We cannot imagine everything involved. We do know that Christ died for our sins, that he suffered every pain anyone will ever feel, and that he rose again so that we can rise again. Everyone has different understandings of the scriptures so the best way to come to know about the atonement is to go to the source, God. I know that as we sincerely pray to know about the atonement, God will answer our prayers. If you do not know how to pray or don't know how to receive answers I would recommend finding your nearest missionaries and set up an appointment to meat with them. Show more Show less
