Hi I'm Ben Scheffner

I live in Sandy Utah. I like to listen to music, hike, bike and ski. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

One of my favorite things to do is to mountain bike. I have been mountain biking for four years now and have been a member of my school's team. I also love to hike. My favorite places to hike are in Big and Little Cottonwood Canyon in Utah. I enjoy doing a lot of service. For the Peer Leadership Team (PLT) we are constantly serving. We teach kids how to refuse dangerous situations like bullying, drugs, alcohol, etc. I am the oldest of three younger brothers. They drive me crazy, but they are also some of my best friends. I received my mission call and I am called to serve in the England Leeds mission. I am so excited to get out and serve and teach others about the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was around nine years old my family and I were driving home from piano practice. We got in the car and were ready to leave. I was in the front with my mom talking. I suddenly got the impression to look back and check on my brothers. I had noticed my brother Sam, had taken off his seat belt. I got unbuckled and buckled him into his seat. Two minutes later we got into a really bad car accident by a person who ran a red light. I knew that "impression" was the Holy Ghost. He was protecting my family from any harm. I know if I didn't receive the message from the Holy Ghost, Sam could have been severely injured or killed. I have always believed in this gospel. I know it's true. Joseph Smith restored this gospel, even with the scorn and cruel punishment that followed. He knew it was true. That is why he never gave up when situations were hard. This gospel brings me happiness and I want to share with everyone how much God loves them.

How I live my faith

I notice in my life, when I am serving and living the gospel, I am very happy and have a great attitude. I live my faith by teaching others about our church. I understand the best way to stay happy is to live the gospel. One of my favorite ways of showing my faith is just by being a friend to all and showing your example. If you show kindness and love toward people, others will appreciate it. I attend my seminary class every day in school. I know this is a big testimony builder and has strengthened me. It makes me want to be a better person. By attending church and fulfilling my calling as a youth leader, I know it brings others to the gospel.
