Hi I'm Sarah Hellewell

I'm going to Louisiana Baton Rouge for my mission! I attend Utah State University. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a major music nerd, I love to sing, play the piano and percussion. I am a college student and I am majoring in Family Human Development, to become a Child Life Specialist, so that I can help comfort children in Children's Hospitals. I have been called to serve in the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission. I report to the MTC on July 20th, 2016. I couldn't be more excited to go teach those people the Gospel. I am a middle child in my family of five! I have an older sister and a younger brother.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this is the true and only true church here on this earth today. I know that Joseph Smith was called as a prophet of God to come and restore this gospel in these latter days. I know that we have Thomas S. Monson as our prophet today. I know that he receives revelation from the Lord of what we are to do as a church. I know that we can have the Spirit with us every day of our lives if we pray to the Lord to have it with us. I know that Jesus Christ loved us so much that he suffered and atoned for our sins, so that we could repent and be forgiven of them. I know that he went and was crucified on the cross and was risen after 3 days. I know that he made it possibly for us to also be resurrected and have perfect bodies, like he has, again. I know that as we live the commands and teachings of the prophets of old and of today we can be saved and return to live with our Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ again. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I use to teach primary back before college. I taught the sunbeams and I loved every minute of it! They had this wonderful spirit with them that made me feel happy and a love for this gospel. I am living my faith by preparing to serve a full time mission in Louisiana! I am also currently a visiting teaching, and I love and adore the girls whom I visit teach. In the past I was a seminary class president multiple times and I enjoyed that calling so much. I was able to serve my classmates and help bring the spirit, light and love to the class.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Sarah Hellewell
Brothers of the LDS church are commanded to serve full time missions at age 18, but they do not have to if they do not have the desire or want to go. Sisters have the option to serve a mission. Missionaries that go out into the mission field are the ones that have prayed about whether or not they are to serve, and they have received the conformation that they should go and serve.
