Hi I'm Courtney

I live in Utah. I'm a dental hygienist with two little girls. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in Utah my entire life. I met the man of my dreams when I was 20 and he was a recent returned LDS missionary from Atlanta, Georgia. We've currently been married for 11 years and we have 2 beautiful little girls. I've been a Dental Hygienist for 7 years and am currently working part time. I only discovered recently that I love to run. I've completed 10 half marathons and hope to one day complete a full marathon. I also love to scrapbook, play the flute and piano and spend time on adventures.

Why I am a Mormon

I wasn't always active in the church. My mom was a convert and baptized when she was 19. My parents were married in the temple, but they feel away from the church shortly after. I was 10 when a classmate invited me to hear the missionary discussions. I agreed and my brother and I started meeting with the missionaries. They asked us if we wanted to be baptized and we both said yes. It was hard not having our parents active and at our young age we weren't strong enough in the church to go by ourselves. We eventually fell away as well. When I was in Junior High another classmate invited me to a Young Womens activity. I was eager to go and make new friends. That was the turning point for me. I slowly became more active and started to love going to church and the youth activities. My testimony started to grown. After my husband and I got married in the temple we too started to become less active. The first 5 years of our marriage we balanced on the fence of inactivity. After the birth of our first daughter our priorities changed. She was born with a birth defect and needed to have surgery when she was 6 days old. She stayed at the local children's hospital for 6 weeks. I grew closer to my Savior during that time. Even though I had abandoned Him, I felt His love for my little family every day. I knew He was with us during our trials and He was carrying us during those miserable 6 weeks. I knew that He had sent this perfect being to me to watch over and if I turned to Him, He would teach me how to be the person this little spirit needed. I love the simplicity of this gospel. I love that I can pray to my Heavenly Father and know that He is there for me. He listens and answers prayers. I know because mine have been answered many times. Not always at once or necessarily in the way I want, but in His timing and His way. I'm greatful for the trials I have been through because without them I would have never had the opportunity to grow.

How I live my faith

I am currently a Relief Society teacher. It has by far been the most rewarding calling I've had. I love getting to know the prophets better and understanding the basics of our religion better. I love having the opportunity to study and increase my testimony over sharing my love of the gospel with the other sisters in my ward. I will always have such a special place in my heart for Relief Society. It truly is where my testimony has flourished and I owe it to the strong spirit that is always present in our meetings. I love this gospel with all my heart and have come to know, through heartfelt prayer, that it is true.
