Hi I'm Austin Ondracek

I have lived in four different states. I am graduating with advanced honors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Columbia Missouri and lived there until I was two years old. I then moved to Idaho and spent five years there. I then moved to Washington State and lived there for another five years. Finally I moved to Las Vegas Nevada and have lived here since I was 12. I have been an avid sports fan my whole life, I enjoy playing basketball, baseball, football and running track. I currently run track for my school and compete in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles. My favorite sports teams are the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boise State Broncos. I love hanging out with friends and family and engaging myself with other people. I have always enjoyed the outdoors and want to continue that by studying Landscspe Design in College at Utah State University.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is taken for granted by a lot of people. We sometimes lose sight of how lucky we are to be apart of a living gospel that is in place to protect us in ways we don't even understand. It can be difficult to understand the joyness of the gospel when you have been a member your whole life, for me I can depict two very different lifestyles because of the way my Dad has chosen to live his life as opposed to my mom. My mom and dad separated many years ago and since my mom has remarried. With my dad falling away from the church after the divorce it is clear how different his lifestyle has become. The atmosphere there is quite different from that of my home here in Nevada. My dads house does not feel like a home, where as my moms house is like a beacon of hope in a world so desolate and dreary at times. Traveling between households has shown me two sides of a story, and it is very clear to me that my moms side is meant for me. I love knowing I can have a family as strong and loving as the one I have now someday. I want this church to be an influence for the rest of my life. There is no other faith I'd rather be apart of, this is the true church and I have seen it greatly influence me in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through serving my classmates in church. As a first assistant to the Bishop of my ward I am constantly affiliating myself with others in a positive way. A few months ago my friends and I started attending food shelters for abused women. This has become a routine that we all enjoy doing together. I also live my faith through going out and teaching with the Missionaries or my home teaching companion. I've found that others benefit in ways we would have never guessed just because we decided to stop by and see how they are doing. I also engage in many other service activities with my friends from church and have always had the most positive and uplifting experiences with them while performing service. I love living my faith and showing to others, for there's no greater feeling after sharing love and thoughtfulness to others.
